More Info: Supercharging.Life database

This is a friendly contest for Tesla owners to track the number of unique public Superchargers where they have charged

- "Supercharger count" is the number of unique public Superchargers where you have charged (just being there does not count), whether or not you were the person plugging in the vehicle (such as a Valet Parking garage or a Passenger) and whether or not it was your own personal vehicle (such as a rental, a loaner, or a friend's Tesla) as long as you were the one who drove >50% of the distance to reach the charger(s).
- The list of chargers in the supercharging.life database are the ones included in the game. If you think one should be added or removed from the list, let us know.
- Only chargers available to the public without special permission are included in the game.
- Chargers not connected to the grid are not counted.
- Doublet locations like the North/South Supercharger 'pairs' in CT, ME, NH, etc. count as individual locations.
- More than 1 charger at the same address, such as Lenox Square Mall (Atlanta, GA) or Montgomery Mall (Bethesda, MD) count as individual locations when they appear as a separate location on the Tesla Nav screen.
- Inactive competitors will be archived and removed from the leaderboard. Just post an update to be reactivated.

See Supercharging.Life database for info on how to post your own visits to the database (preferred), or post your locations with date visited to this thread and one of the admins will update your list for you. All visits must be posted to this thread - not just entered in supercharging.life. If you are the first in the game to visit a supercharger location, please post to the thread as soon as you can so others know it has been visited.

There was never an open pin on the game map. This was based on our discussion last month.

If there is consensus to change our earlier decision, we can do that.
I grasp that this situation was bandied about by a handful of interested folks when it first appeared. I'm just trying to put context to it that may have been missed or misunderstood. To me, a live pin on an official Tesla map gives it legitimacy. No doubt, it's a challenging get, but so were the NYC garages half of which turned me away because they were "full." It's goofy in this context, but our proudest and best remembered achievements are those that demand some tenacity.

Did the Tesla map show chargers available?

I incorrectly assumed those that were interested or had an opinion weighed in at the time. :)

How so? My guess is the temporary charger remains until they open the permitted 24 stall V3 on the site.

Tesla labeled it "Temporary".

Last month we decided not to include temporary trailers in the game, including this one. Now that it has actually been visited, we can decide whether we should change that decision.

The NYC chargers were shown as available, but the garages had shut their doors to new vehicles because they were "full." This was at 9:45 am and 11 am.

I didn't know one way or another whether this SD set up was predating a permanent install. I just saw it as active on my nav screen, though it was showing as a Temporary Closure for the bulk of my drive down from LA. I see they are permitted for V3 chargers, now that I look. It's a challenging "get" insofar as it is only open 12 hours a week and one has to plan accordingly.

I didn't weigh in for the reasons enumerated above. I didn't realize it was called to a vote. Thank god for judicial review. Thanks, US Constitution. ;) I probably would have down voted the idea as well based on the facts as presented a month ago. Reality changed that impression.

I agree that temporary sites should not be counted as separate entities, but I don't see harm in counting either temporary or permanent installations, but not both. Obviously I'll go back if this one is judged ineligible, but it doesn't feel right to ignore it based on first person experience.

It does feel disorienting to have gone to an active map pin as recommended by the car’s navigation system and pretend it never happened. I can’t recall this situation ever arising in all these years. Correct that misperception if I’m misremembering.
I don’t enjoy getting in the weeds on these sorts of minutiae either. We’ve let pins be the arbiter of other illogical conclusions before, especially when it came to adding novel chargers for credit in the exact same parking lot as I was reminded in Beaver yesterday.
I don’t put a lot of credence in “grid connected” because it connotes something that’s neither permanent nor essential for permanence. Several ostensibly non permanent locations include the Aurora Two Brothers brewery site, South Padre Island, and Cedar City. Those funky triplet pedestals with above ground conduit seem particularly transient, yet have all counted. I agree that if a temporary charger that counts morphs into a permanent installation, it should not count twice.
I did not engage in the legislating of these Megapack chargers not only because of the “weeds” aspect, but also because I lacked the data to form an opinion. Now that I’m more well versed, I would have voted to count it. If it were a semi full of pedestals that just shows up to music festivals and Burning Man, not so much. Counting them works against me as they will tend to pop up on the coasts, especially CA, where locals can pick them off a lot easier than I can from 1000 miles away.
Like I said, not a hill worth dying on, but those are my thoughts after 1295 of these crazy things. Or is it 1296? :)
NYC Superchargers have no relationship to a discussion about temporary superchargers. Plenty of us have experienced arriving at location only to find we were unable to charge for one reason it another. It happens. It is not the same issue being discussed now.

In my mind, a trailer-mounted set of superchargers listed as temporary on the nav should not count in this game. I think the correct call was made earlier.

Salem, VA Apperson Drive is another edge case. It was clearly a temporary site while the Sheetz at the permanent location was renovated. We did count that one but in light of this discussion, I wonder if we should just consider it as having visited the permanent Salem location and not have it as a unique location?

I just saw it as active on my nav screen,
I'm not sure I understand. You were driving from LA to San Diego (to visit the zoo?) and recognized a supercharger on the nav that was not one of the 1295 you have been to?

That was on a skid and connected to the grid, right? Do you remember how Tesla labeled it - did they call it "Temporary"? Was it on the Tesla findus website?

I look at all the rules as arbitrary - we have arbitrarily said grid-connected skids count, and battery trailers do not. We can arbitrarily change our arbitrary agreed-upon rules if we arbitrarily agree to the arbitrary change.

Yes, skid and connected to the grid. Labeled temporary on the nav and explicitly stated it was related to the construction at the permanent site.

@tes-s I was aware of the new charger because it went "live" on supercharge.info, I thought one of our touchstones. I saw the pin on the map and researched the TMC link to see that it was open on weekends. I drove there in the hopes of it being active after a morning LAX drop off and a dinner plan with a Custer Tesla friend later in the day. I lucked into it opening up as I was driving down the coast.

There has to be a little consistency here. The Salem one and SD are a distinction without a difference. To not count SD as one of ultimately one and to count Salem as two is bonkers. I'm not suggesting doubling my eventual yield here, which if that's what happened in the past is clearly an oversight.

Addendum: Looking at the map, I see that the temporary charger was at a physically different address, and I indeed have visited both Salem chargers. My point stands that there needs to be consistency about something labeled "temporary." Whether it's a glorified extension cord or attached to a mobile power plant should not be the metric.

And in the case of San Diego, it wasn't so much a temporary prelude to one eventually being built at that mall, but an effort to accommodate the loss of the Del Mar superchargers at the whim of the parking structure owner.

Now I understand.

Yes, supercharge.nfo is one of our touchstones. TMC is another. Tesla nav and findus are two more. TMC discussion is also one. That is why when it showed up in TMC last month (I think you were on the east coast at the time) we had a discussion here, (arbitrarily) decided not to include it, and it never showed up on the game map. Did you miss that page of posts and decision in this thread, and that it did not show up on your map of unvisited?

While our decisions on which superchargers are and are not included in the game are arbitrary, we do try to maintain some consistency. The kicker for me was we decided not to include trailers in the past - Culver City and Santa Monica were mentioned.

I'm just one admin. We (admins) will make a decision based on input from the group. There have been two discussions in this thread - one starting on September 26 when the trailer appeared on TMC Wiki - Superchargers Visited and one starting on October 17 Wiki - Superchargers Visited

Please see what has been discussed, and let us know your opinion on whether we should count trailers.

Wasn’t making any analogies to NYC valets. Just pointing out that something being difficult should not make it something we disallow, if we’re being consistent.

Back from an IL to NC Fall trip. Added four new ones. The Fair Oaks, IN one was at a cool location! (https://fofarms.com/)
