Surely Smart Summon won’t take me into a curb AGAIN, I said..

Not after numerous updates that included “various bug fixes and improvements” since my last parking lot smart summon attempt.

Then again...at least its consistent.

Appears where it struggles: Parked parallell to the curb. Smart summon to a target that is on the other side of the curb. (In the photos, I was standing in front of a store thats on the passenger side of the car.)
The Car pulled forward, then up onto the curb. Stopped it as quickly as I could. Fortunately, only about 1mm of curb rash on the very edge of the wheel. Pics show after the wheel straightned itself out after it went up onto the curb at a sharp angle. (fortunately). Didnt scrape the wheel in a parallell manner.

Confirms that I believe more cameras are needed on the side for Smart Summon to be truly reliable to be able to see the entire lower side of the car.

I get the feeling at least with general AP that they’re concentrating on the rewrite now and the basic driving (i.e. where AP thinks it can drive, what it thinks other traffic is going to do etc.) hasn’t really changed.

I mean even in this case the cameras are not the only problem, as the car certainly saw the curb when it arrived there. So while it wouldn’t fix every blind spot issue, AP having some environment permanence would go a long way. Now it still wakes up to every situation with a terrible hangover and no recollection of how it got there last night!

This is an easy enough solve with curbs, but what happens with cars that moved while your car was asleep? It may require the car stay awake the entire time it's parked to observe such changes in the geometry.
