Surviving the stages of delivery...

Just discovered my delivery date got pushed to June. Bummer.

Quick question: How long does it take before I get a VIN# and where do I see that on My Tesla? It's been a week and based on what I read on this forum it looks like 1 week seems about the time you get your VIN...

I don't have my VIN either. I confirmed on 3/25. Also June estimate ...

FWIW, I ordered and confirmed on 3/18 (for late May delivery) and still no VIN. Part of me thinks "So what?" because I am not planning to get my VIN tatto'd on my chest. Then, on the other hand, I just hope that my order isn't stuck anywhere in TSLA's ERP.

My only interest in getting a VIN is to begin lining up financing and insurance before delivery. Just want to get those things done as soon as I can, especially to lock in a solid rate.

Financing usually lasts 30 days, so you sorta want to wait until you have your first delivery window update from TSLA before applying for the loan. Otherwise, you'll just have to renew/reapply.

Insurance can be done even 1 minute before driving off the lot so we're good there :)

I'm sure VIN assignments are batch processed - we'll probably get VINs all on the same day or something.

How come my delivery estimation is so late compared to others who ordered about the same time? I'm hopefully about to guess the answer. :)

I ordered and confirmed the same day at the tesla store on March 25th.
Tesla emailed me the next day with a pickup date of Late June!
This was with an expected confirmation from me (according to their email)
of April 8th "for purposes of factory planning."
8 minutes later I got another email saying my order has been confirmed.
And it said they were sourcing parts. But this email didn't have a guestimated
new pickup date. So using basic logic: If I really confirmed 2 weeks before they planned for in their first email, shouldn't the pickup date be 2 weeks sooner or mid june? The guys at tesla seemed to think so. Even with that, it seems longer than a few others here by a few weeks. Thanks , scort
Ps. Typing on a nook sucks!

Hey! I confirmed the exact same day as you. My estimate is also June. No VIN yet. you?

No vin. And my estimate was late June. But again I'm thinking mid june because they sent that before their "you are confirmed" email. I assume the vin is also sent via email? Anyone know

PS. How did you "discover" your delivery date was "pushed back" to june.
Did they send you a message?

Just thought I would share my experience. I ordered my S85 on 3/11. Confirmed on 3/13. I was initially given a delivery window of late May. It has been difficult seeing so many others get the VIN so soon after confirmation.

I did however have 2 updates last week. The first was an online change from late May to May. This had happened previously as well but went back to late May after 2 days. The other was my first call from a delivery specialist, although not my local one. Just another oddity of being in Texas.

He just asked if I had any upcoming out of town trips in the 2nd half of May. I called back yesterday concerned that I still did not have a VIN 35 days after confirmation and mentioned to them that the website says it happens about 5 weeks before production. I couldn't see the timeline lining up.

The good news for those of us still waiting is they seem to be aware of the issue and are waiting for a new batch of VINs to become available. They told me mine may not be available until the end of April, but the car was still penciled in for 1st week of May production and a May 17th delivery. It was the first time I was given a specific date.

Hope this his helps some of you waiting. Still can't explain why so many got the ViN after confirming last week, but I feel better.

Exact same situation here. Confirmed on 3/25, no VIN to date. I don't think it really matters, but it is strange =/

Just got mine. Confirmed 3/31. VIN 41338.

I reached out to my DS when I wasn't seeing the VIN. She said to expect mine in 1-2 more weeks, which would have made it 4-5 weeks from confirmation. Not sure why I got mine now, but maybe yours are coming very very soon!

Guess I can check that 2nd box off my "stages of Tesla" experience!

Good to hear you got it, and I wouldn't worry too much (as hard as that is). I originally ordered on 3/8/14 and waited weeks for a VIN, and yet delivery is right in line with others who ordered around the same time. At the same time, people are getting delivery dates confirmed a month out, and I'm still waiting to finalize mine after production has been done for a few days. In the end the process still seemed like I kept my spot in line.

Now's a good time to read up on all the fun stuff you can do. I have my LED license plate lights already waiting to be installed as soon as it gets home!
