Surviving the stages of delivery...

Right now it´s NOT easy! Scheduled delivery was 25 april. The car is paid and registered and loaded of at the service-center in Drammen, Norway over a week ago. Have waited 7 months now and yesterday the DS said they have to change the door-handles on mine and 15 other cars produced late february. They are waiting for parts and can not deliver the car before this is done. Anyone of you US folks who knows what the problem is?? NOW it begins to be really hard to wait!!! :crying:

Think I´m going into a deep depression here :scared:

door handles...They are waiting for parts...deep depression

Unfortunately, I added another stage to my delivery... by getting in an accident on the 6th day of ownership. I've added another month or so that I don't have the car and I keep telling myself the car will be as perfect as it was before the accident. Talk about depression...

Relating to my additional delivery stage, all the parts (3 doors, quarter panel, etc) came in for my car except the door handles... there must be a more widespread shortage of them right now.

Hang in there and stick to the normal delivery stages please!!

You have my symphaty. I have really nothing to complain about!!

How are you guys finding out your delivery estimate dates? I just noticed an update to my dashboard from "Late June" to "June" (Yay!) but still no VIN...

I have not heard from a delivery specialist yet, only Tesla person I have ever talked to is the guys in the store that I did a test drive with.

I got an e-mail from a delivery specialist around the same time I got my VIN assigned. I was slated for "June" from the start. When I had a question for them I gave them a ring, and while I was on the phone they scheduled my delivery for me.

I was told there were 30 cars. Mine is also there. Ordered August of last year, asked for April delivery. Scheduled delivery was 22 April.
Got a P85+ loaner on the 25th and got an e-mail today saying that they could probably not deliver my car untill next week.
Going on vacation on friday, and they told me to take the loaner. They would get me whatever cables and adapters i needed.
So at least I have a car, just not MY car.

I'd say give them a bit more time, you're still probably at least a month away from delivery so there's not a tremendous rush to talk to them yet. I waited until I got an e-mail from them to initiate contact and ask questions.

I confirmed on Apr 20. Got VIN assigned the next day and received an email from DS another day later. Very smooth. A few days later the DS called and gave me est. delivery Jun 07.
He also offered to apply for CA HOV stickers already. So I should have them at delivery.

(Model S 85KWh / White / Tan Performance Seat / Pano Roof / Piano Black / Tech / Parking Sensors / Fog Lamps / UHFS / 19" Standard Tires / Confirmed 4.20.14 /#41861 (assigned 4.21.14) / Delivered est 6.07.14)

I confirmed my order a week ago and had the VIN assigned two days later, but still no outreach from a DS. Seems like a lot of other people tended to hear from the DS around the time of confirmation or VIN assignment. Should I be reaching out proactively?

I ordered/confirmed 4/10, got my VIN on 4/11, but didn't get a call from my DS until 4/23. I was tempted to call too, but didn't really have a reason, other than I wanted to feel like something was actually happening. I'm sure they'll call soon.

I guess the process can be a little different for everyone. I got the DS email a little more than a week after confirming. VIN didn't come until like 3 weeks after confirming. Maybe the VIN assigning person was on vacation during the week I was expecting mine?

But the DS said the same thing as what's been said before. Doesn't matter how late your VIN arrives. It doesn't determine your place in line. Your reservation number does. Though I can't feel too sure about getting bumped by inventory cars that need to get built after the end of every quarter. And of course the P85+ orders bump you too.

Getting so, so close. Delivery date is June 6. Car finished production on 5/20 and it has to make the cross-country trek (probably with Tiblot's car).

Just thought I'd share a few thoughts of the experience thus far...

1. I have an old BMW that for convenience reasons decided to trade it in through Tesla. I took pictures and sent my DS the VIN and he did all the rest. He got the bids and Auto Nation had the highest. This was a first for my DS- usually their private bidders win out. When you sell your car online like this there are a ton of extra steps which can hold up your financing process if you intend to trade in your old vehicle (any amount you can knock off the purchase price helps if your state charges sales tax). First, you wait for the bid which took a few days. Next, you have to talk to AN. I had some difficulty reaching my person. She went out of town but didn't change her voicemail message so I thought she was just too busy. After that, you have to schedule an inspection. I couldn't get one for 6 days.
2. Regarding financing, and perhaps it varies by state, but this trade in really adds a lot of steps to the process. In order to get the MVPA, you have to get the trade in finalized up front. Then, the MVPA comes out. Then, you can go to your financing establishment to get them to wire the money to Tesla. Because I have a 6/6 delivery date and a 6/2 inspection date, I'm going to have to push hard to get all the different parties to do their things quickly and accurately. It's adding a little stress to me right now.
3. My DS had a death in the family but didn't put any out of office memos on his email or voice mail. Note to Tesla: Train employees to use their out of office memos and voice mails!!! Also, if the service center has only one DS, I would recommend training a couple of other folks to be able to pick up the slack by cross training them. Or give some folks in Fremont the ability to keep the process running smoothly in the absence of local DS support.
4. Got my 14-50 NEMA installed Friday. Great electricians. I had some other stuff done, so it's hard to exactly measure the cost but I'd say it was about $200 all-in. Certainly helps when your circuit breaker box is right next to where you want to install the outlet. I was going to get a separate meter, but a neighbor friend of mine who runs a home technology integration business has a much cheaper solution. He's riding down with me to pick up the car so we'll chat about his solution and I will share what he recommends with the forum.

10 days to delivery. Can't wait!!!

I agree. I received the call from my DS on Sunday that my car had arrived but it needed to have the service review and detailing done before I could pick it up. Unfortunately, the service techs were out until today so pickup is tomorrow. The anxiety is palpable!
