Swapped to a PW gateway 2.0, is the frequency change still an issue?

Hi Guys,

I removed my older gateway 1.0 for the newly 2.0 and looking to find out if the frequency shift is still a problem or did Tesla figure out a way to automatically fix the UPS issue?
Last year Tesla modified my firmware and used 62.7Hz to shut down the inverters.
Do I need to call them again to have this implemented in gtw 2?

Thanks!

I think that is a question best answered by Tesla. They may have already done it because you had that set before on your account. But, it could not hurt to verify the settings were applied to the new GW.

BTW, why did you upgrade? Were there specific features you wanted that TEG V1 was not providing?

I got the new one with my PW referral, it does have improvements (LTE etc) and new features...

To answer at least part of your question, the gateway 2 uses the same method of raising the line frequency to shut off the inverters as the gateway 1 and defaults to the same 65Hz max frequency.

As to whether your new gateway would be operating with a lower max frequency because the gateway it replaced was, I don’t know. That is something you would have to talk to tesla about, or measure yourself with a multimeter or a kill-a-watt type device.

Thanks, I will find out...Just thought they found a way to do this automatically....I tried doing that but when I simulated the power outage the PW were not fully charged so that was not triggered. Btw in my case the magic freq was 62.7Hz.

If by automatically you mean remotely, then that is what they did for me on my GW 1. I just put a request in with Tesla. They asked me the UPS model I had and that was it. About a week later they had it changed to a max of 62.5 Hz.
