Swapping Model X 22” wheels for 19”

I just bought a used Model X with 22” silver wheels from Tesla. After research, I realized that 19” will be better for range and tire durability. How can I swap my 22s for 19s? Do I buy the 19s from Tesla and then sell the 22s? Will Tesla trade? Are there third parties who will do the trade? Please advise.

I don't think Tesla does trades. You could buy 19's from Tesla or go aftermarket. Just make sure they are rated for the weight of the X. There are a few vendors on here. Not sure if they sell 19's though for the X. Try selling the 22's

Check Tsportline or unplugged performance.

Thanks guys. I thought about selling mine and buying 20s or 19s from Tesla. However, does anyone know how to sell the old ones? Also, will I be making the installment and the disassembly or is it going to be Tesla? I am not clear how the process works.

@akhafagi if you succeed in putting 19s on your MX for all season (non-winter) use you would be one of the only owners I know of to do this. Tire and wheel options are pretty limited for this super heavy SUV. I’ve searched every forum post or blog possible and have not found evidence to date of any model x owners rolling on 19s outside of the winter tire setup.

If you did this I’m sure this forum would be VERY interested in how it goes for you and efficiency gains in particular. Good luck!

I just realized that 19s for model x are only for winter. That makes more sense. May be I will consider the 19s for next winter. I won’t gamble with using 19s all season. For now, I am still interested in the range and I would definitely try to get 20s.

For the record there are 19” tires that are all season that support the MX’s weight and speed requirements .... but no one willing to try them all season. I’m betting there is a range boost for the first owner bold enough to give it a shot

I'd like to try 19" all season as I'm mainly interested in ride quality. more efficiency and range is bonus. but I still want the look of the black turbines. anyone got any leads for black 19" turbines for rated for model X?

Actually, I am yet to find any 19”wheels with all season tires rated for model X. If you know where to find them please let me know. I am fine with silver.

can you post a pic of ur 22"s?

I have been researching and thinking. I concluded that range anxiety should be less of an issue as more SCs are popping up and as the summer is rolling in. I didn’t pay anything for the 22s since I bought the car used from Tesla. Therefore, I can use the 22s until the tires wear off in about 15K miles and then I can sell the rims only.
