Swapping tires from PUP 21" Uberturbines to 20" Inductions

Just picked up my Model Y a few weeks ago, and I wanted the 20" induction wheels instead of the Uberturbines so I bought a new set of Inductions from craigslist. I wanted to go square instead of the staggered setup, and also go smaller to avoid curb rash and get a smoother ride.

I brought the inductions to America's tires and wanted to get 255/40 20 (Michelin sport 4s tires) tires to swap with my uberturbines, but they recommended that I get 255 /45 R20 105Y XL BSW (Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires) because of load capacity...? I am not too familiar with tire sizes but is this a good way to go?

Any help would be much appreciated!

(Just realized I posted this earlier in the wrong thread)

The 255/40 MP4S has the same load index as the stock Goodyear tires on the Induction wheels.
I had a set of 255/40 4S installed a few days ago and they drive great......performed well in wet/dry 1k mile road trip I just completed.

I’d stick with the 255/40. They are awesome and the correct load and size.

Is it the induction wheel strength or the tire 255/40R20 with it’s lower load capacity that results in this complicated load table in the lates over the air manual.

the 245/45R20 would be great if it does indeed fit correctly since the load rating is inline with the options for the 19 and 21

Sorry - I never followed up with this!

I ended up trying out the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s SUVs in 255/45/20.
The ride has since improved vastly and is way more comfortable with this setup even with the stock performance, lowered suspension. This definitely addressed my curb rash and range anxiety - coming from a MX standard range with 22" rims.

The range has definitely improved, and I was able to update the wheels in my settings with the last OTA update, but I'm sure the range is off by a few miles - dash shows 317 miles on a full charge vs 290 miles with the 21" Uberturbines.

I found that although the Uberturbines were really fast and grippy, the ride was really harsh and tiring on longer drives.

Glad you found a 20" set up you like. Unfortunately for those of us north of you - these tires aren't rated for winter/snow.
Has anyone found a great 19" or 20" all season set up? Looking for more sidewall than 255/40.
