TACC Distance Following - Start/Stop

I was in a 1 mile line this weekend to enter a Christmas Light show at a popular garden. It was stop and go the entire distance, with the typical people trying to go as far as they could in the left lane and then trying to dive in the right lane at the last minute. TACC set to 1 kept right up with the car ahead without allowing enough distance for the “divers”.

Another issue with TACC is distance following in normal stop/start driving. It seems like at times it accelerates fine and others it is slow to start and creates a huge gap.

What I observed is that if it is following a single car at an intersection, and the other car pulls away quickly, the car will accelerate slowly through the intersection and then accelerate more once inside the lane lines on the other side.

If it is following multiple cars through an intersection, it will accelerate to keep up with the lead car until it reaches the intersection, then maintain speed through the intersection, and then accelerate again on the other side of the intersection.

It is like when it loses the lane lines, that it is very conservative going through the intersection, but once it regains the lane lines on the other side that it accelerates more aggressively.

Anyone else observed this?
