Taking delivery in 2 days recommendations?

As the title implies I am taking delivery of my model X P100D in 2 days. I am very excited. Is there anything I should look for in particular when accepting delivery. Beyond that what additional things would you recommend such as aftermarket things and customization. Was looking at getting it wrapped a bright blue color most likely or something very shiny/iridescent.

Not sure how to edit but also want to ask how long to get a wall charger from a recommendation? I received a recommendation order on the 12th does it have to be delivered or how does it work?

The only charger per se, is in the car. All Teslas come with one. If you are referring to the Wall Connector for your garage, you have to order it from tesla.com. If you are referring to the special black signature edition of the Wall Connector (the referral promotion) it is anybody's guess. There is a separate thread here about that. It does not appear that anyone has seen one yet.

Signature Black Wall Charger Award Date Sliding?

Yeah I meant the wall charger thanks for the link. So in the mean time I should purchase one right?

I took delivery of my second Model X P100D last week. There are a few things you should look out for:
*Check the paint for scratches and chips.
*Check side repeaters for damage.
*Make sure side windows close all the way and do not overextend (real problem on my last delivery).
*Make sure falcon wing doors close flush with the body of the car (both deliveries had this problem).
*Make sure you have all your accessories in the frunk (sunshade, front license plate kit) and the smugglers compartment (mobile charging kit, tow kit).
*Then check the interior for missing pieces (mine had missing plastic on the rear slide for the driver seat).

Anything you see that seems out of the ordinary should be pointed out to your delivery specialist. All this stuff can be fixed.

One thing that always catches me off guard is the temporary license which gets taped to the upper left side of the rear glass so you don't see it when you're driving. Just know that it's there.

If this is your first Tesla, do some playing around with the settings/features before you take off. It's important to feel comfortable in your new car and your specialist can answer any questions you may have.

That's all I have from my experience. I hope you have fun with the delivery and good luck with your new P100D!

If you really want one, yes. But they are not required. Many folks charge with a simple NEMA 14-50 outlet. In any event, if you are two days from delivery, you are too late. I installed my own 14-50, and later converted to a wall connector. But not everyone is up for that.

If you don’t mind me asking I’m a bit confused about this wall charger bit.... is it just a dedicated Tesla charger with the plug? So instead of using an outlet you just plug in?

Most importantly keep your eyes on the road and don't be distracted by all the gadgets.

I am a pilot and that gave me a mild chuckle. Primarily because when switching from old round dial to the new glass cockpit airplanes, pilots go through the same advice / warning and focus issues with sticking their head in the cockpit LCD screens / iPad instead of looking out to fly.

BTW, this thread is useful. Taking delivery of my MX in 3 days. More nervous than excited, primarily because of all the MX issues I have heard (first hand) about from friends who took deliveries as recently as January of this year.

I picked up MX Evannex sunshades at 50% the price from a guy here in the bay area who is getting rid of his MX after just 10 months of ownership because of all the issues he had. He had to escalate up to Tesla chief of service (now works for Lyft) who he pinged on Linkedin and he surprisingly got a reply very soon.

Our DA seems super crazy busy and only has time for canned email responses (with some customization) and very very to the point on any phone conversations.

Lets see how our delivery experience goes in a few days.

Yeah I made this thread because I saw complaints about accepting delivery etc. however I personally didn’t notice a checklist to do when accepting your new M X. Also you refer to the shade that blocks sun coming in the driver windshield? I probably should pick one of those up.

Was there ISSUES or issues? I had a coolant leak (o-ring issue, was common around when I took delivery), squeaky FWD and that was it.
Really absolutely nothing I considered of consequence over 18 months of ownership.

I got a free un-cork improving my 0-60 by almost a second which was awesome and I got a Tesla loaner to use for a day while they did that as well.

Satisfied people don't complain and often don't share kudos.

Yes. The car comes with a cord that plugs in to a Nema 14-50 (preferred) and several others (in a pinch). You do not HAVE to get a wall connector. The Wall Connector is compelling because it is convenient. But it is not required.

Review the numerous references to “Charging” on the website.

Once again, it is not a charger. The charger is in the car. The Wall Connector is just a convenient means to connect 240 volts AC, to your car.

Most folks will need to at least install a Nema 14-50 outlet, same as an electric range outlet, near their parking space. It is also the same as a 50 amp RV outlet (at least in North America). The outlet itself is a $10 item from Home Depot, plus installation if you don’t do it yourself.

What I did was I initially installed (self installed) a 14-50 in my garage with 6 gauge wire, and used the UMC that came with my S. I later ordered an "HPWC" (High power wall connector), name later changed to just "Wall Connector." At the time, the HPWC was backordered and took months to get. Rather than hard wire the Wall Connector, I simply made up a 6 gauge pigtail with a 14-50 plug on it, and plugged that in to my 14-50 outlet. The Wall Connector is configurable, and I programmed it for 40 amps maximum, and took off to the races. 40 amps is more than enough for my usage pattern.

The electrical work involved is relatively simple and well within the range of home DIYers. But if you are not used to opening the electrical panel in your home or are fearful of all things electrical (TBH, that is a feature), you probably should hire an electrician to do it for you.

Probably will just start with an outlet then. Father in law is an electrician and excited about the Tesla I’m sure he would be happy to do the install :) the convienece won’t mean much at first because I’m excited to do anything with the car plugging it in included!! Haha Also thanks or all the info :)

I took delivery last week. Production complete was 5/24. I literally had not one single issue minus a little rail dust on the back end, simple clay bar removal. Rail dust isn’t something Tesla can control as trains are trains. Just look it over really well before paperwork is signed and note anything you see in writing. 1 other thing I saw was just a couple of little sticky places from the wrap they put on them. It’s no big deal just a wipe off. FWD have been perfect, interior was perfect, had everything from the kit bag.

I crawled underneath it, and did a really thorough review. The DS even thanked me for doing that as it’s easier to address on delivery day. I told them I came in expecting worse from what I had read but they were incredibly professional.

Once we established that trust they dropped the canned statements and said that it’s more good than bad but more like 75-25%. So probably more than they are comfortable with.

Stick with the wall outlet. It is cheaper and easier. Im kinda regretting installing my wall connector because im selling my house and I'm not sure if I should just leave my wall connector or take it (and leave high voltage wires exposed).
