Why is it when I tap on a current post it takes me to several days earlier, then when I hit jump to new it still does not take me to the current post.

Not sure what you would call it, selecting a post to read on my iPad I tap or touch the post and I get the response I mentioned. You would think I should be directed to that post not something in that thread from days earlier.
By selecting a post, do you mean selecting a thread? And where are you making this selection? In a individual forum, New Posts feed, or perhaps in your Alerts feed?
So on the left side of the TMC listing you have the main categories Model S, Model X etc to the right you have the most current post in that category and you select that post.
I think it takes you to what it believes to be the first unread post in the thread for you. So I think it will only take you to that latest post if you have read all the other posts already.
However, if you go into a specific Forum (e.g. SpaceX, Model 3, etc), and you click on the latest post on the right side (specifically the date), then it will take you to the latest post in that thread, not the first unread one.
