Tax Credit for Home Charger Installation in 2022?

Are there any federal tax credit for installing a home charger in 2022? I saw an article saying the tax credit has been extended, but it didn't say if that applies to installations done this year or if starts next year. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Section 13404 of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 both extends and significantly changes the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Tax credit.

The amendments in Section 13404 take effect after Dec 31, 2022.

Starting in 2023, qualifying property will be limited to that placed in service within low-income or non-urban census tracts.

For residential property, the credit amount is continued at 30% of the cost with a maximum amount of
$1,000.

For business property, the credit amount decreases to 6% (from 30%) with a maximum amount of
$100,000 (previously $30,000). Business property meeting prevailing wage and registered apprenticeship
requirements may be eligible for a credit amount of 30% ($100,000 maximum).

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately Con Edison is my electric company. I don't think they offer any rebates for charger installation. They do have a program that offers discounts on electricity if you charge off hours.

Unfortunately PSEG doesn't give the rebate for a tesla charger. They don't send info to PSEG so it doesn't apply.
