P3d half the price of a Porsche Taycan and it takes down the main marketing point of Porsche. Not to mention all the other benefits of tesla charging network, better battery technology...
Yeah. Little problem with this test is that he only accelerates to 60mph, whereas the Taycan went to 200km/h (~125 mph), which takes far more power. The Taycan also did that in just under 10s according to the Fully Charged video, whereas the P3D takes about 14s for the same sprint.
Yes, quite the “take down” when you arbitrarily change the rules and perform a completely different test that requires ~1/3 the power.
Include that the cars being compared costs $60K Tesla vs $120 for the Taycan - You guys are full of it,
Comparing chalk and cheese. Top of the line Taycan is not intended to compete with any version of the M3. It will be priced above the MSP and will outperform it, including having a much nicer interior, maintaining full or near full performance for extended track laps, and handling better. However, from the early reports, the Taycans will not have range anywhere near either Tesla.
All good points. But their premise is about continuous launches without degradation. The tesla does just fine. Would like to see a quarter mile though. P100d does it in 8.8 seconds so sorry porsche you are a bit laggy. I guess if I was in a pinch and wanted to drag 31 one times in a row..I might consider a taycan. lol.
Taycan seems to be significantly faster after 100mph. I didn't realize it had a two-speed transmission. P100D does not do quarter mile in 8.8 seconds- more like 10.8.
Why would you buy a “Taycan” @ $120K+? I get it, Porsche enthusiasts but, it harkens to a Mazda, in appearance. To each his own but, bang for buck, P3D! No risk of “challenging“ Tesla in this category.
I can do the 30x0-124 test with my model 3, just need to figure out how to rent a dragstrip/runway. Anyone in Seattle area want to help?
I’m in. I’d be down for that. But the Taycan Turbo is MILES faster to 124mph than a 3P if it only takes 10 seconds. It’s like comparing a bicycle to a Concorde.
When people buy a “sports car” the number one attribute is typically 0-35 0-60 launch at lights. 99.9% will never go to a track. They just want bragging lights of the line. Though the Taycan is definitely brings something new with 2 speed motor, not sure which Tesla owners would be tempted. Build quality will be awesome no doubt...styling is a bit lack luster. If die hards want a track car 911 Gt3 all the way..not a taycan. The more competition the better. Maybe we finally see a model s refresh after the new completion.
Well the price still matters, model 3 is way cheaper than even the Taycan base model. If the 10s performance can only be reached by 150k+ then we should let roadster to beat it, in 8 seconds.
Oh sure. I just don’t think people should get too excited about the whole 3P vs Taycan thing. Two quite different cars.
ICE manufacturers should be pulling all the stops out! I’ve seen nothing promised by any of them, attempting to bring a modicum of competition to what we experience. Aesthetics, ride, range, price, and of course, 0-60 times that are worthy of envy. Yet, it is a start.
