Teaneck, NJ to Toronto Late Night SC Question

Planning out an upcoming Toronto - Teaneck NJ and then return trip. I have done this a couple of times in my Model 3 and the trip was great, but for this upcoming trip, my return is late night. I am planning on leaving Teaneck only at about 7:30 or 8 pm which means even a 45 minute delta between taking the Tesla and my wife's SUV (to account for the charging time) could be the difference between arriving home at 2:45 or 3 in the morning vs 3:30 or 4 in the morning. Of course, the benefit of the 3 is the supreme added value of EAP late at night making the driving that much easier.

My main question relates to some of the SC stops along the way. Abetterrouteplanner has me stopping at Roscoe, Erwin and Buffalo (which is often the route I take). I have stopped at each of these before and I am a little concerned about arriving at these locations late at night. The Roscoe supercharger is in the parking lot of the Roscoe diner which is likely to be closed by the time I get there. There is very small local gas station across the street but nothing else.

The Erwin SC is in the parking lot of a Dunkin Donuts which is also likely to be closed by the time I get there. Buffalo is in a nice strip mall with a Borders - great for the daytime, but definitely closed when I get there.

My main concern with these SC locations is not safety, but restroom stops. If I have to stop at these locations to charge, and then need to stop again for restrooms, the added time will be a real issue.

Especially late at night, and given the "restroom" issue, my preference would be to stay on the Thruway - better lighting, and restrooms right off the highway if needed (5 minutes in and out) but I am not familiar with any of the SC locations along that route.

Any thoughts or guidance? TIA (Thanx in advance)

Directly across the street, 7-11 and Denny's are open all night.

That Mobil station will also be closed at that hour (on your return trip, that is... on your way out, you'll be at the Roscoe Diner before it closes at 10 pm). There's an unpaved road leading into a good-size forest where you can go "au naturel" if necessary, but that's about it unless you want to go for a serious walk.

I take it your coming from Teaneck going the Thruway N to exit 16 to get on Rt 17 W towards Binghamton to get to Roscoe. If you don't charge fully in Teaneck you can stop in Middletown, NY and charge at the QuikCheck they are open 24 hrs. Then you could skip Roscoe and hit another Super Charger. Most Dunkin Donuts are open 24 hrs, look up the Erwin Dunkin and see.

I was at the Quartzite AZ supercharger at 3am a few weeks ago. My two boys and I went off into the abyss. This guy in an X was mortified. Kept giving me dirty looks when we came back. I went over to try and explain that Carl’s Jr. was closed, he locked himself in his car.

Next time we will pee next to the car so there’s no question!!!

The Binghamton supercharger is about 10 minutes off of I-81. It's located at a local diner. It seemed pretty desolate when I stopped. There are gas stations close by that might be open late.

On the Thruway, the Syracuse supercharger is super convenient to the Thruway toll gate as it is literally across the road from the toll gate. There is a Holiday Inn located with the supercharger, which should be open 24 hours. There is also a Dunkin Donuts close by (5 min walk), but you have to cross a busy road. Google Maps says it's 24 hours, but I don't know this from personal experience.

Also on the Thruway, the Waterloo supercharger is located near a casino. I've not stopped there, but I've seen the supercharger site from the Thruway as I have driven past. I would guess that the casino is opened late into the night. Another possibility.

Also, on the Thruway, the Victor (Rochester) supercharger is located at Eastview Mall. It's a 5 or 10 minute drive from the tollgate. The mall itself probably closes at 9 or 10 at night but otherwise would be convenient for washroom and food. There is a 24 hour Sunoco gas station (east on Rt 96, towards the village, about 3.6 miles)

Thx for the input.

I have been to the Binghamton SC a few times. Very desolate strip when the diner is closed. There is a starbucks about 2 minutes down the road but that will also likely be closed when I get there.

I have not stopped at the Syracuse SC but I have heard it is a good stop, both in terms of convenience off the thruway and the bathrooms in the Holiday Inn.

I stopped once at the Waterloo charger. It is in the parking lot of the casino. Not much else around but the bathrooms inside are some of the nicest I have seen at any SC stop. Smells like Mandalay Bay in Vegas!
