Tech package question

Sorry guys another question!

I’m about to pull the trigger on a P85D but it doesn’t look to have the tech package.

My understanding is the tech package comes with the following:

  • Traffic-aware cruise control
  • Lane keeping with automatic steering
  • Self-parking
  • LED fog and cornering lights with automatic high beams
  • Automatic keyless entry
  • Lighted door handles
  • Power liftgate
  • Electrochromatic mirrors
  • Power folding, heated side mirrors with memory
However, I found this link....Model S - Options by Year - Tesla Motors Club Wiki

Which states on 2nd March 2015.....

  • Description of tech package with autopilot changed: navigation was removed from the Tech Package and is now standard, price unchanged.
Does anyone know if this is true?
Due to my usage the sat nav is paramount, I’d also really want Electric folding mirrors as a minimum.

Thanks for any help guys :)

Don;t know the answer to your question, but some thoughts:

Traffic-aware cruise control

99% sure that is an integral part of Autopilot (so no-AP = fixed-speed cruise control)

Lane keeping with automatic steering

That's AP - presumably AP1 for the vintage you are buying. Currently AP1 is at least as good as AP2 and still has some things that AP2 does not, so nothing embarrassing about having AP1 :) I find it very useful and significantly reduces tiredness on longer journeys, and driving bumper-to-bumper. (and if you are with Direct Line its a 5% discount on insurance)

Self-parking

Not exactly perfect IME

navigation was removed from the Tech Package and is now standard

I wasn't aware that any (recent) car did NOT have SatNav (if that is what this refers to?) The whole "Navigate me from A to B via Superchargers if necessary" seems to me to be fundamental to driving a Tesla.

Due to my usage the sat nav is paramount

Tesla Dashboard SatNav is very so-so. FWIW the way I use it is displayed on console but muted. Waze running on phone for voice directions, police / stranded-car alerts, and congestion route rerouting. Of course sometimes the two disagree, so I have to glance at map on phone, but where they do agree the bigger map on Console is much easier to interpret.

Only downside is that Waze rerouting does not give a Fig about range, so I have been rerouted all the way around the M25 to avoid "carnage" and of course Range is significant with that length of detour.

Tech pack effectively became premium pack and auto pilot as two options. If they told you a P85D has the tech pack they dont know what they’re saying, a common problem with many dealers as the tech pack stopped by then if they to,d you it had the features the. Ok. Even supposedly Tesla specialist dealers can’t tell the difference between AP1 and EAP plus lots of other listing mistakes like range, power, performance.

Thanks for that, they didn’t say it had the tech package but I listed the extras and they confirmed it has them. (I emailed him asking this and the they put YES by each in the reply)

“The car (LH65AXB) has the tech/autopilot package so will have the following-
  • Traffic-aware cruise control YES
  • Lane keeping with automatic steering YES
  • Self-parking YES
  • LED fog and cornering lights with automatic high beams YES
  • Automatic keyless entry YES
  • Lighted door handles YES
  • Power liftgate YES
  • Electrochromatic mirrors YES
  • Power folding, heated side mirrors with memory YES”
So obviously I’m expecting it to have all the above.

Just to help you split them and tell from 100m if they have the features:

Premium pack on a P85D is most easily spotted by chrome trim around the fog lights and chrome trim to the rear diffuser, if it has those it will have LED fog lights, cornering, lighted door handles. and power tailgate. You'll also get extra lighting inside the car.

If the car has AP1 hardware it will have a small window on the lower front spoiler in the middle, but there's no way to tell if its activated. To do that you'd need to go into the settings. That gives TACC, Lane keeping, self parking. If it got the hardware but you can't see it in the options it can be enabled for about 2.5k - its much cheaper than the EAP system - so don't let it put you off, just barter. Its not uncommon for the ads to be a bit careful with the wording and I'm not sure what they really mean - words like "has full autopilot capabilities..." or "autopilot activated after purchase.." could be, by the cynical, read as you can but you need to pay for it.

I believe keyless entry, chromatic mirrors and folding mirrors are standard regardless of options.

To remove all doubt: :)

Wow thanks so much that very very helpful!

So that looks like a pretty decent spec to my untrained eyes.

Anything major/desirable missing on it?

All I can see missing as far as ‘the wanted’ items go are:

Ludicrous
Dual chargers
Yacht floor
No Parking sensors

However it’s got a few things I wasn’t aware of like.

Subzero+Heated steering wheel
Alcantara dash trim
Extended nappa leather
Power and lighting package

Yacht floor

It probably has the yacht floor.. I don't remember when they made that a standard option, but I think it was before your VIN.

Subzero+Heated steering wheel

It's strange the spec sheet you posted does not indicate this option, it should.

Same with the Ultra-hifi sound package -- it's not on the spec sheet, but in the option list.

Alcantara dash trim

I really like the alcantara dash trim. Tesla recently removed it from all cars, which I think is unfortunate.

No Parking sensors

Don't get caught up on PK00 LEGACY No parking Sensors. This car definitely has them.

That looks fully loaded to me and very nice indeed! :) The VED bit on the spec sheet is a bit misleading, the car is pre 4/17 so don't see why it would even get a mention.

You'll love that car, and the heated steering wheel is now on my "must have" list for any future car :D

They've not had the car long, it first seen about 6 weeks ago in late Oct but its one of those odd ones that appeared, disappeared within the week and then reappeared a month later. Can't help with a reason why that might be, its only done 180 miles in that time. Possibly reserved and then cancelled. My records show as above, its only got 7 seat (which is marmite) and dual chargers missing (which may be installed and can be activated if you were keen), Ludicrous was not an option at the time and would have had to be retrofitted at not inconsiderable cost.

I have to travel to London

Getting the Congestion Charge "cancelled" is unnecessarily complicated IMHO.

What I want: Drive into London, Congestion Charge camera does recognition on Number Plate, checks DVLA computer and finds I'm in an electric vehicle.

What actually happens: Request form, fill in form, send evidence that the vehicle is electric, pay an annual fee (£tenner I think), wait at least a couple of weeks for their confirmation reply ... then allowed to drive into London.

In my case I've paid two years in a row and not actually driven into London yet (I do, but only "from time to time").
