Telsa Replacing Computer (Warranty)

Tesla is replacing my car computer due to a hardware fault with the WiFi.

I currently have AutoPilot Hardware 2.5 (It's a 2018 LR)

Would they replace it with the new Hardware 3.0 FSD computer? Curious if anyone's gone through something similar via warranty.

My guess is that you will get HW3. My understanding is that all new cars are coming with HW3 and it would not make too much sense to keep manufacturing old hardware after April 2019. Now, taking the other point of view, if Tesla is still sitting on HW2.5 computers, then this would be one way of reducing that excess inventory.

If it ran out of 2.5 of course, it would get you 3.0.

It’s been disconnecting from wifi or won’t initialize at all and I have to reboot the computer.

Tesla diagnosed it remotely and said they found a hardware fault with it.

So I did end up getting the FSD computer, which is nice since it saved me $1k. Fixed my wifi and camera issue too.
