Temporarily disable auto-lock?

I have to leave my key in the car when there is still a passenger inside to avoid auto-lock, alarm on, and also keep the A/C and radio running while I walk away to pay inside at the gas station ... Ok, maybe not paying at the gas station but some other similar scenario. Is there a better way to do that?

If there's another adult in the car, I leave the key with them or otherwise leave the driver door a little ajar.
I assume you don't want to change the setting of walk way door lock.
Paying at the gas station ..what's that?
