Tesla is a big part of it. Not only is Tesla's huge stock gain a draw for EV startup investors, but Tesla has also built up a talent base of tens of thousands of people with EV building experience who are now seeding the engineering teams at all these startups. This talent base didn't exist a decade ago. California's noncompete ban is a huge boon to EV startups!
