Tesla Account down...

For someone like myself who is about to get their first Telsa (delivery next Monday), can a current Tesla owner please help me understand what this will affect end-to-end? E.g., :

- Tesla Account from the web is down
- Tesla app is non-functional (do I have to switch to a fob or key card to open the doors?)
- What doesn't work inside the vehicle
- etc.

Outages are bound to happen, just trying to figure out the impact on simply trying to drive my car to work.

Phone as a key will still work as that uses bluetooth.

Depends on what all is down with the servers you may not be able to remotely control the car from the app, things like Summon, Turn Cliamte control on/off, remotely unlock/lock car.

The only things in the car I can think of not working would be streaming music, voice commands, searching for places in navigation. Map display may stop working. While it buffers a lot of the map data it doesn't buffer all of the maps from what I have seen and if you don't have cell connection long enough you will just get a grid display and not a map.

NoAP might get affected if it runs out of map data in which case it would go back to AP without the NoAP functions. The lane keep and TACC functions still work.

Please tell me this is not the same people who program the cars....

The updates for the car take it down as well. It is just the owner of the car selects when to take it down for the update then it goes down for ~30 minutes while it performs the update. With the website they decide when to take it down for maintenance. There are ways to reduce\eliminate the downtime but it adds complexity and takes a bit more resources to complete. Then it comes down to impact of downtime vs extra cost of resources to eliminate the downtime. Amazon would eliminate the downtime as it would cost them in lost sales to be down even for a few minutes, Tesla isn't likely to loose a sale because their website was down for a day well at least not the sale of a car may loose some accessory sales.
