Radio Program About NUMMI Factory, 2010, 61m, LINK (Click on the small arrow under the picture. There is a 23 second radio advert before it starts)
This is a sad story about Toyota and GM's Nummi Factory. Today that building is Tesla's Fremont Factory where they build the cars. Tesla bought it from Toyota. It had a capacity of 500.000 cars per year. Elon Musk said in the future Tesla will restore the factory to its former capacity.
In September 2014 during his Japan trip Elon said they have a lot of things to learn from Toyota. This radio program provides some background on why Elon said that. It gives a glance into a fascinating piece of history where two companies with very different cultures, Toyota and GM collided with each other. Maybe it also gives us some clues where Tesla could go and what kind of company they could become.
Who Killed the Electric Car? (2006, 92m, Documentary) SEARCH LINK (select 92 minutes long video)
Elon Musk talked about this documentary many times (YouTube, YouTube). He said when GM made the EV1 he thought they would continue with EV2, EV3. But when they crushed the EV1 that's when he knew electric cars wouldn't succeed without a new car company. In other interviews Elon said his motivation is to take a sad thing and change it into a positive. This documentary gives us an idea on the background why Tesla Motors was started.
The director of this documentary, Chris Paine, also directed the documentary 'Revenge of the Electric Car' (listed above) a few years after this. Here is a 49m interview with him about his two documentaries where he also talks about Tesla and Elon Musk among other things.
Interview with Lyndon Rive, Elon Musk's cousin and the CEO of SolarCity. In parts of this interview he talks about Tesla batteries for solar energy storage. 09 Dec 2013, 21m, YouTube, LINK2

The first criteria of this list is to create a good experience for the reader. Anything that creates a bad experience shouldn't be added. Don't add videos that are boring, have poor quality, poor sound, terrible hosts, poor editing, poor camera work, distractions in the background, low youtube ratings.
Don't add direct links to unauthorized video uploads. This is wrong for two reasons. Firstly, those links don't last long. If you link to an unauthorized upload, chances are it will be taken down soon. When somebody clicks your link they will see a youtube notice saying the video was removed. This is not a good experience for the reader. Secondly, this list respects copyrights. All direct links to videos open to the original video uploaded by the copyright holder. Youtube is full with fake uploads. Some people copy somebody else's video and reupload it. Sometimes those fakes can have more views than the original. It is not always clear which video is the original. Instead adding links to these fakes, future editors of this wiki should research and find the original video. The exception to this is Tesla conference calls. Because the conference calls are in audio format, nobody is creating a duplicate of an original video by uploading a conference call to youtube.
If a section says "videos longer than 20 minutes", don't add a video that's shorter. The reason for 20 min limit is to create a good user experience. It is not a good experience having to scan through lots of short videos to find something worthwhile watching while you sit back and relax or while you have your dinner. There is a section in this wiki for videos less than 20 minutes. Exceptionally good or important videos shorter than 20 minutes should go to that section.
Don't add general EV, battery or climate videos. This list is for Tesla and Elon Musk related content.
Don't add each individual video as a list item from a youtube channel if that channel uploads regular Tesla videos. For example Bjorn is a great reviewer but it is enough to post a link to his youtube channel with a note that lots of 20+ min Tesla videos are available in his channel.
The font is Verdana. Select all text (Ctrl+A on Windows) and change front name to Verdana to clear font differences but don't change font size while all text is selected.
Dates of videos should show video recording date, not upload date, whenever possible. If somebody wants to watch videos in historical context, it makes more sense to sort videos by recording date. Sometimes the recording date is not mentioned anywhere on the video page or in the video itself. In this case, the editor should do a Google search about that specific event. If it is a symposium or congress, find the website of that event and check out the event calendar.
If you add a new item. you need to add it to the list above as well as to the "last items that were added" section below.
Notes to readers of this wiki:
Most dates shown here are video recording date, not upload date. It makes more sense to sort videos by recording date if somebody wants to watch them in historical context. Sometimes the recording date that you see here is not mentioned anywhere on the video page and you might be wondering where the recording date came from. It came from a Google search for the date of that specific event.
Star ratings show a few 'must watch' videos.
Transcripts of a few of these videos can be found here.
If you re-visit this wiki, you might be wondering what is new since your last visit. Check out the section below that shows last items that were added.
