My guess is API changes coming in 8.0. It's common to release backwards compatible clients ahead of a backend change.

It's possible that there's a bunch of new stuff that won't show up until the car has 8.0.

OK, I'd put the chances of this actually being true at around 1%, but we can hope!

If 8.0 or 8.1 has navigation updates, maybe the new app will be able to push destinations from the phone to the new nav system

Right now, I have to make fake appointments to get a location from the phone to the car, which is silly and a bit awkward.

I noticed the Climate pane now displays my interior temperature. It wasn't doing that before, unless I actually turned on the climate control.

My temp didn't show up with the new update. In the past, it wasn't visible unless the app has interrogated the car for information (like after turning on the A/C, as you mentioned). And then the temp seems to linger for a while, but eventually will not show again until you interact with the A/C again.

I have not done it for a while but I'm pretty sure you can create a destination to navigate to by pressing and momentarily holding your finer on the destination location on the touchscreen map.
