Tesla app won't run

When I try to run the Tesla app (Android), it takes me to an "Explore Tesla" screen with an image. This takes me to the Tesla website. Trying again goes to the login screen. I log in (correctly) and it takes me to... the login screen again! I've reloaded the app, deleted and reinstalled, restarted my phone, cleared cache and storage for the app. Nothing works. This happened a month ago (September) and a call to Tesla support got it fixed. 3 days ago it happened again. Tesla support elevated it to Engineering. A few hours later the app was working again. The first two times I was on long road trips. (One of these failures somehow disabled Sentry -- the one time damage was done by a sideswipe while my car was parked outside a hotel --- no video when I really needed it!) Last night the app failed the same way again -- this time at home. Today's Sunday -- tech support is closed! This is getting old.

Has anyone had this specific problem? Login takes you to "Explore Tesla" and constant returns to login screen?

Thanks.

Others including myself have experienced this since the app redesign.

No full solution unfortunately. VPNs can cause it. It may be something to do with authentication failing for some reason. My home wifi still is disliked by the app (no VPN at home), so I switch to mobile data to access the car when at home. Annoying but functional for now.

I have an LG phone. I went to google play store to do update and it went into pending for a long while. I finally got out and uninstalled tesla app on my phone and went back to play store for new install and again pending. cancelled the install turned off phone and waited. Powered phon up went back to play store and again it is pending. Does anyone resemble this?

Found I could not download any apps from play store. Phone power offs and restarts did not help. I finally did a factory reset on phone, lost all saved files etc, but now play store is working once more and tesla app reinstalled. Hope this pain is not shared. (Note this was not a Tesla issue, it was my phone)

I am having the same problem, from yesterday afternoon through today. (Android app) I do not have a VPN. I am unable to log on to Tesla from the phone app. (No problem logging into my Tesla account on the computer) I have tried everything- uninstalling and reinstalling the app, rebooting the phone, changing the password, etc. Nothing works.
So to drive today, I had to use the key card, as the phone key does not work if not logged in to the account. How to fix this?

Now I saw the post from someone who said that it worked for him to turn off wi-fi on the phone. I did that, and now it logged on. That is strange, no? (Again, no VPN.) Why won't it connect if the phone is connected to wi-fi?

PS Now the phone app is telling me to set up my phone key. It was already set up. Does one have to set it up again every time it logs you out of your account, and you finally are able to log back in?

I turned off wifi, still nothing!

It definitely sounds similar to an issue I had last month with my Tesla App. I tried to view information about charge level for 2 days and couldn’t get up to update data. Finally I made an appt (using the app). Suggestion came through to reboot the car and app at the same time. That did fix it.

Have you tried rebooting car AND restarting the app as well? I’m guessing you have something more involved if their escalating your support to engineering, but heck, it’s worth a try.

I’m having exactly the same problem. I’ve done all the above fixes and nothing!

It’s definitely not the phone as I can log in with my wife’s credentials.

Tesla Advanced Vehicle Support Specialist is now looking into it.

Once resolved I’ll post back here.
