Does anybody have an idea what container ship Tesla is using to ship the Tesla Model S to Europe (Rotterdam)?
What would be the departure port in the US?

There are many Belgians and people from The Netherlands expecting delivery in the week of 17-24 November 2013.

It would be cool if we can track our Model S coming closer as you can also track Steve Jobs Yacht Venus online.

I don't know but was wondering the same.
They ship by train from Ca to the east coast and then to - presumably - Rotterdam. Then to Tilburg for assembly and finalization. Then to the rest of the EU.
A shipping tool online estimates about 33 days transit from Ca to Tilburg, including (un)loading/customs.

Finalization at the Tilburg plant takes another week. So the - about 6 weeks after production in Ca completes - makes sense.

Still, it would be fun to track the container vessel.

Hello

Is it known how and where Tesla loads the vehicles for Europe?
One says directly in Oakland, others say that the containers are first brought to the east coast and loaded there.

Is there any confirmed information?

I took a factory tour back in October and saw an entire fleet of EU MS getting ready for a container. I didn't see the container our guide just told us that they were getting ready for it. They were completely configured and assembled, tested etc here just as they would be for us here in the US. Unless they've changed something in then last couple months. I'm guessing that they do the same thing they do here once they reach your delivery specialist they make sure that it wasn't damaged in shipping etc and get it ready for delivery to you just as they would here. Mine was here in seattle for a week before I was able to take delivery of it..

I took the factory tour three days ago, on a Saturday. Our guide showed us an area where they prep cars for Euro delivery and said they removed the wheels and a few other parts (he wasn't specific) before shipping. Yes, they first build a test a complete car and then they take parts off of it to reduce import duties, then put them back on in Europe before delivering them to the new owner.

At the moment there are two ships on the way to New York:

APL INDONESIA
ATLANTA EXPRESS

From the ATLANTA EXPRESS I know that drives them to Rotterdam.

The APL Indonesia goes definitely to New York, then whether to Rotterdam is still unknown.

Rudolf Schepers is cuurently loading in USNYC and next destination will be Rotterdam eta 12th of jan. APL Indonesia will depart USNYC 9th of Jan and eta NLRTM 15th of Jan. Atlanta Express is aslo at USNYC, but it is not loading in the railroad port area, so i doubt it will carry any Model S.

I was a bit to quick, Atlanta Express has also access to railroad containers, and will arrive Rotterdam in the evening of 19th of January.
