Recently, I completed a solo, cross-country Tesla trip in my 2013 Model S. The maximum range is ~240 miles, which dictated that I charge at most superchargers along I-80. The services around each supercharger vary. This is a description of some of the services within walking distance of superchargers. I also highlight those supercharger stops where you should either overcharge to reach the next supercharger or where there are little to no services whatsoever. The hotels that were remarkable are also highlighted. There are a few critical tips to follow if you are going to drive cross-country in a Tesla, which I write about in my post titled Tesla Cross-Country Driving Tips, I-80.
Sacramento, CA, Arden Fair Mall Supercharger
Services: It’s a mall! Everything is here. I mention this supercharger less for the services and more because you must Overcharge if you wre going to make it up the hill to Truckee. There is a supercharger in Rocklin and your car will navigate there if you need an additional charge. But if you charge enough at Arden Fair Mall, you should make it to Truckee on a single charge.
Truckee, CA Supercharger
Services: Hardware store (I did not see another hardware store near a supercharger along I-80), grocery store (few and far between, stock up!), Starbucks, fast food (Panda Express, etc.).
Lovelock, NV Supercharger
Services: Located in Chevron parking lot. McDonald’s, Family Dollar within walking distance.
Winnemucca, NV Supercharger
Services: Located in Chevron parking lot. McDonald’s, Mexican restaurant, gambling within walking distance.

Elko, NV Supercharger
Services: Located in strip mall parking lot with grocery store and restaurants (Matties Taphouse and Grill).
Recommended Hotel: TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Elko, NV (new, clean, friendly, breakfast included)
West Wendover, NV Supercharger
Services: Located in Chevron parking lot. McDonald’s, casinos within walking distance.
Salt Lake City, NV Supercharger
Services: Located in Tesla Salt Lake City’s parking lot. The lobby is a great place to relax and offers coffee, water and restrooms. Tesla staff is welcoming and friendly. Food, etc. is not within walking distance. Overcharge to reach Evanston, WY.
Evanston, WY Supercharger
Services: Located in the Hampton Inn parking lot. There is nothing within walking distance and little to nothing within driving distance.
Rock Springs, WY Supercharger
Services: Located in a shopping mall parking lot. Applebee’s is next to the supercharger.
Rawlins, WY Supercharger
Services: Located in Fairfield Inn & Suites parking lot. The lobby has tables where you can sit. Burger King within walking distance.
Laramie, WY Supercharger
Services: Located in Fairfield Inn & Suites parking lot. No food within walking distance.
Loveland, CO Supercharger
Services: Located in Embassy Suites parking lot. There is an enormous lobby where you can sit. There is some food at the hotel and a restaurant, which is a small hike, but within walking distance. Note: Loveland, Silverthorne and Brush, CO are not along I-80, but were part of a detour through Keystone CO. If you are headed into the mountains, OVERCHARGE.
Recommended Hotel: The Elizabeth Hotel, Fort Collins, CO (Hip and cool hotel with convenient, nearby parking garage and terrific food)

Services: Located next to a strip mall. Starbuck and multiple restaurants within walking distance.
Brush, CO Supercharger
Services: Located in Chevron parking lot. There is noting within walking distance.
Recommended Hotel: Holiday Inn Express, Sterling, CO (The hotels in Ogallala did not look inviting; this hotel was new, clean and friendly with breakfast included.)
Ogallala, NE Supercharger
Services: Located in hotel parking lot. McDonald’s and Mexican restaurant within walking distance.
Gothenburg, NE Supercharger
Services: Located in between Comfort Inn (nice lobby with tables where you can sit) and Nebraska Barn and Grill.

Services: Located at truck stop with Subway, Little Cesar’s Pizza and Thunder Road Grill.

Services: Located in Hy-Vee supermarket parking lot. There is a café in Hy-Vee with a full menu.
Council Bluffs, IA (just outside Omaha, NE) Supercharger
Services: Located in shopping mall parking lot with Starbucks and multiple restaurants within walking distance.

Hotel/Destination Tesla Charger: Hilton Des Moines Downtown, 435 Park St, Des Moines, IA 50309 (This hotel will charge your Tesla overnight on a Tesla charger)
