I beg to differ. Tesla doesn't do ordinary. They do extraordinary. :D

I would be more specific. Their engineering and technology is extraordinary. Their external styling is fairly conventional. I think that’s what makes Tesla’s palatable to many that would be harder to convert.

The Bolts of the world look weird. The BMW I series cars look weird and are expensive. A model S looks like a cool sedan. Even the 3 from the back is quite conventional. I see cues from other German cars. The Y will not look dissimilar from a Ford Escape or other rounded small crossovers

these truck concepts look quite divisive. It’s a different conversation altogether. It may be cool and interesting, but at the end of the day you have to want to be seen in that. Some people don’t want that kind of attention

One word for this new logo - legit

Gross. If this is the case, I'm out. Good luck winning the "typical" pickup buyer over with that turd on wheels.

There was a really great post in the investor thread a few moments ago:

I want the truck to look weird. First iPhone looked weird.

Do things well enough, and your weird becomes the new normal.

Really, were' not talking about innovation, we're talking styling. Remember this dubious attempt by GM:

Yeah, everyone just loved the design and it sold like hotcakes... NOT. The fact is, it was a flop and an embarrassment to GM.

oh my goodness. My family had this van back in 1990 in silver. It was the ugliest thing ever. Lasted a long time though. You just triggered some memories

Chevy Lumina- even a terrible name

I don't see many hardcore truck fans ready to switch to an electric drivetrain early in the transition anyway.
There are something like 2.8MM pickup trucks sold annually in the US. Tesla is unlikely to be prepared to sell more than 50k annually,
or under 2% of the market. So their target can be much more specific.
I went to large electrical hardware store recently and I was surprised
by the number of contractors who use a Model X instead of a Pickup Truck.

I guess, installing a plug in not a problem for them, so they can save a lot on gas.
The Model X provides a lot of cargo room and you can use a trailer if needed.
And on weekend you can take your family, and everyone will think you are a Rockefeller.
