Tesla has officially delivered Model 3s built in its Chinese Gigafactory.
A ceremony was held Monday at the factory, which included handing over 15 cars to employees in China. Tesla seems to now be ready to start delivering in mass to the largest electric car market in the world.
Tesla’s operation in Shanghai was built with impressive speed. The deliveries of the first Model 3s took place just 357 days after the factory’s construction started. Tesla has reportedly manufactured hundreds of vehicles at Gigafactory 3, which will be part of the earliest wave of deliveries to Chinese customers.
Tesla eventually plans to build both the Model 3 and Model Y at the Shanghai factory. The company hopes to ramp up production to 250,000 units next year.
