Title is Urgent: ...

Totally bummed. Feel mislead by Tesla in writing before placing our order ... Now the "facts have changed".

Never what we expected from this company.

Come on Tesla, we feel blindsided.

Surely, Elon would not approve?

I'm quite confident Elon already knew about this policy - and/or was even instrumental in getting it implemented.

Clearly Tesla made a business decision with the 100D. They made a completely different business decision with the P100D where the upgrade was offered without pretty much any limitations or changes, you could even get the upgrade after manufacturing.

With the 100D Tesla made a business decision to force you into limited interior packs, non-ventilated seats and no free unlimited Supercharging. Obviously that decision has superceded any insight - even promises (there is at least one case of the upgrade specifically being already promised to a customer on TMC) - given by the Tesla staff to customers.

Perhaps they did it to make sure those remaining 90Ds would sell out - and to keep deliveries brisk for Q1 (if 100D risks deliveries missing the quarter).

The ethics and wisdom (even legality in case of sales staff promises) of that can certainly be debated, but it is obvious Tesla made such a business decision and is sticking to it. They could also have made another business decision to allow changes like they did with P100D.

Clearly they are paying a certain customer dissatisfaction price with the move in particular and the constant product changes in general. It seems never to be a good time to buy a Tesla (if you care about this kind of stuff) because new things come out so often that the likelihood of things changing before you even get your car is large.
