This is a good deal considering that Tesla sells what they call a “corded” 14-50 for $520. I bought a used Gen 1 UMC off ebay without the bag, the 5-15 adapter, or tow hook for almost the same asking price, but my cable definitely looked used. I’m glad the one I bought works, as I had doubts based on its scuffed-up physical appearance.

Is this completely safe to use on a Long Range M3? I'm sure it's been brought up but I just wonder why the lower amps on the newer one. If It's all good I may be interested but please don't hold it for me.

Yes a LR will charge at the full 40a with no issue.
