True. Tesla calls the shape a squircle (squared-off circle). The shape allows hands to rest on top like a classic steering wheel, but also on the bottom like a yoke. The tactile feedback when turning on/off a turn signal is much better than the yoke. It took me at least 2 weeks to consistently activate the turn signal using the yoke, but using the squircle it was immediate.
