I was concerned about this too before I bought mine and expected to have to add gaskets and such. Mine is a 8-19 build and Noise is minimal, I checked with two meters against my Ram and Cadillac before I traded it and the loudest reading was 76 DB in all 3. Average was around 72. Not sure if changes were already in place?
Same. My only complaint about this car. It really sounds like most of it comes from the back side of the front windows. My passenger window is especially loud.
+1 Esp at highway speeds. and there's a rattle. I should have the mobile guys check it out but not sure if they can go on highway. I'll record it instead.
I know we all want a quieter car, but in my first year of having mine on Halloween I almost ran over dozens of kids last night. They can't hear us lol.
That actually has a measurable impact. I installed a cover for the trunk ceiling a few months ago that covers the vent and did some before/after measurements:
That said, it does not turn your Model 3 into an S class. The road noise on coarse road surfaces is pretty bad compared to other cars in this price class IMO.
This improvement would certainly make the wait from September worthwhile. My Portland test drive on concrete roads beat to death with studded tires was loud.
No idea what they did. I just told them about the problem and picked up the car. It's not as bad anymore, but it's still there....I'll have to take it in again if I get a chance. Maybe I'll just try one of those aftermarket kits on my own.
Has there been any actual proof of this improvement, like a teardown comparison? The car is so noisy that the fix must be very involved. I would love it if the manufacturer did it first so we could copy their approach.
