Thanks for this information, this is a bit concerning, as it makes it appear that Telsa has removed the option from the MCU and simply plugging in the digital tuner will NOT give us FM/XM radio.
That has already been covered, there is a new car configuration option that tells it if there is a compatible tuner or not. So no plug and play.
They are not going to be changing cameras guys. Hope, pray, beg, grovel, but don't count on it. Don't be disappointed when they tell you.
other variable could be miles. I’m almost at 60k in 3 yrs. so full specs: S90D feb ‘17, ap2.0, 60k miles. And getting high latency.
Thanks!! My 2018 MS was built in Feb, hoping my number will come up soon (I have FSD and will absolutely opt for this MCU2 upgrade to be done when they upgrade mine to AP3. Have you tried the Web app for Tesla Winds with your new MCU2? Very fun thing to have showing tail wind/headwind/airspeed, and if there are improvements on latency from MCU2 speed and/or LTE speed it would be great. Tesla Winds and Elevation Web Browser App
Zanery Dumb question for you, Did you get FSD computer upgrade at the same time? I just dropped my car of for the MCU upgrade and they WON't do my FSD upgrade. They said you must wait for the VIN grouping to become avaliable. I requested they check again and verify it. Also you said you lost Dolby feature?? do you think it is on all the time now? I notice a big difference in my premium sound system, I hope we dont loose it. They told me I would only have the center screen replaced, NOT the IC screen. are you sure you got a new one? They also told me my FM radio will remain. I never use it by was very specific on what would change with this upgrade. I'm probably one of the first upgrades on the East coast and I don't know if they even know what there getting into.
MCU2 did not have Dolby Surround. It introduced Immersive Sound (or Surround?) that was its equivalent.
I have also have a Feb 2017 Delivery S90D AP2 w/ 90K miles. I recently deleted ALL my previous destinations in the Nav--yes--one by one!. It helped, and Tesla Service remotely deleted some internal files--saying there were a few that were corrupted--Still some, but little latency.
Does summon work a bit more reliably with the MCU2 update? I find even just summon fwd and backward to be a bit unresponsive and unreliable.
We all got that one email titled "Coming Soon — Your Infotainment Upgrade" on March 2nd. I took a screen shot of that email and attached it to my service appointment and stated that I had a AP2.5 MCU1 Model S and would like to purchase the infotainment upgrade for 2500 + Tax. They verified that my VIN qualified and said no problem.
I hae to check. I just re-plugged in my USB hard drive, so I'll have to verify but the original article (Infotainment Upgrade) said that "Records from front, rear and side cameras for DashCam and Sentry Mode in cars with the Full Self-Driving Computer"
