are they replacing the IC also with the upgrade?
The thought is yes. The IC is a semi stand alone computer on MCU1 architecture but is simplified and is basically a second monitor on the MCU2.

MCU3 is betterWhat are the known issues that exist with MCU2? I haven’t seen much of anything yet...
MCU3 is better
Yes, IC1 is not compatible with MCU2.are they replacing the IC also with the upgrade?
Yes, IC1 is not compatible with MCU2.
How do you know that its not compatible?
Can you point out to us in the Infotainment Upgrade announcement where it says that?
You mean 420 ?I'm holding out for MCU42. It's the answer to everything.

Did he say that in his posts? I don't remember reading that. I remember somewhere reading that
MCU2 IC will not work with MCU1 - and that's probably not important
MCU1 IC will work with MCU2. Maybe I am wrong. But that's what I remember reading.
I don't really care. When I go for the upgrade, I am pretty sure Tesla techs know what they are doing and the IC in my car will work. So I don't care if its MCU1 IC or MCU2 IC.
My reference is @verygreen . He installed it on hiss vehicle . IC2 is a dumb display driven by MCU2, whereas IC1 is a smart display unit.
So, has anyone scheduled their MCU upgrade yet? It's supposedly scheduling now for MCU1/AP2.5 owners.
i scheduled mine (via the mobile app) for the 19th. Will see if they cancel it. As it does say scheduling now. They did change it from Mobile Service to Tesla Facility. So maybe that is a good sign. Will see.

But Tesla has never said that the Infotainment Upgrade is going to be a standard MCU2... So does what @verygreen knows/said even apply to this? We just don't know at this point.
