Tesla is open for business in China

According to a message from the head of Tesla China, TSLA has started to accept reservations in China. The person in charge used to work as the president of Bentley China. TSLA should be able to sell 10,000 Model S per year in China pretty easily:

I am in Beijing right now and several of my Chinese friends are very interested in the MS. Is the Beijing store location available? BTW, I'm glad i brought along some Tesla brochures:biggrin:

Will be interesting to see the pricing. Elon said on Q2 earnings call company policy is to set transparent pricing for same profit regardless of where you live in the world (i.e. he roughly said "not rip anyone off"). As far as Tesla is concerned pricing should only vary based on shipping cost, duties, and a small allowance for currency hedging. Pricing markedly out of line with EU and NA would suggest the policy of the Chinese government. I have a bit of hope Elon was persuasive enough to even arrange friendly terms with the Chinese government in an industry they are hoping to nurture at home.
