Tesla is Quoting a charge for warranty service on 2 day old car

So I put in a service request for Tesla to look at my car cos the front passenger door doesn't latch when closed. Door was unlatched when I picked it up. I have to shut the door harder than normal for the latch to catch. I just received a quote of $84 to adjust the door. WTF? The car is 2 days old.

In my experience Tesla will give a quote even for warranty work. The just dont charge you anything.

You think a tech leading company such as Tesla can sort something as simple as Warranty=Yes ==> $0. I just hate to be bill after the work is done and be told this is not covered under warranty by the quoted repair work.

You won't be billed. Also, I recommend cancelling your service appointment. The doors do feel that way at first, but they soften up within a week or two without any manual adjustments.

Mine sure didn't! (Shanghai built) I would get it looked at for sure.

They give the price just in case it's not under warranty so you know beforehand how much it'll be so there's no surprises.

They can't know if it is a warranty repair or not until the inspect it.

Most all the Automakers are using this system. Alerts customer that if the request is not covered by warranty, what the charge will be. Better to know than not know.
