    Saw this on another forum.

    New VW EV

AFAIK the guy is an EV owner and does conversions, rather than a run of the mill troll...

Tesla uses tried-and-true hardware technology. It's the way they put it together that's innovative. Even that is in some sense obvious... but nobody else is doing it.

Anyone *could have* replaced all the electromechanical control systems on rockets with computer controls, like SpaceX did. But only SpaceX actually *did*.

Anyone *could have* assembled an AC induction motor, IGBTs, commodity battery cells, inverters, put the weight at the bottom of the car, put the controls on a touchscreen. But only Tesla actually *did*. (Notably, Musk waited until *after* GM and Toyota crushed the EV1 and recalled the RAV4-EV, so he *knew* the existing carmakers weren't going to build electric cars.)

Good grief. On the basis of that thread SpeakEV should be renamed "HearNoEV-SeeNoEV-SpeakNoEV"

Without Tesla it would just be another conversion/maker forum, like the old BVS
