I just went through the process for getting a loan through Allegacy. Secured 1.99% for 60 (up to 66) months. Took a day for the membership/auto loan application, another day to send in requested paperwork to secure the loan. If anyone is interested in financing through them and is confused about the process like I was, I would be more than glad to provide step-by-step detailed instructions.

I'd be interested. I have an email from them with some information requested that confused me a bit, so I called and left a message and no response yet (it was late in the day, so not seriously concerned about lack of response).

Are you doing 100% financing? They told me that they only do 90% on Teslas.

What information requested are you unsure of? They close at 5pm EST apparently?

Yeah, I called close enough to 5 p.m. that I assume she'll call me tomorrow. I think its just a typo but it says 20 pay stubs?!

Did you actually have to join prior to any indication of approval? I'm applying jointly with the spouse and it would be nice to have an indication prior to shelling out $50+ in membership fees. We have good credit, solid jobs so I assume we'll be approved, I'm just rate shopping at this point. The cheapest I can get where I live is 3% for 60 or 2.7% on 48 (all our credit unions are so much higher than whats posted on the sheet!). Which isn't bad, but 1.99% or even 2.49% look a lot nicer.

They want 2 most recent pay stubs.

1. I applied for a membership on Friday (applied online, and a few hours later they requested a copy of my driver's license and proof of address).
2. Called them on Saturday morning (800-782-4670) to verify that my account was active and that I was cleared to apply for the loan. On the phone, they told me that I needed to wait until they sent the packet in the mail that included my member number (not to be confused with the account number). I asked if they could send me my member number via email so I could apply right away. They sent it over some secure temporary website.
3. With the member number, it allowed me to sign up for an online account
4. Once you're logged in, you can apply for the auto loan. It said I was approved and that I would be contacted by someone
5. Since it was on a Saturday, they called me today (Monday) morning to ask what car I was looking to purchase, and asked me to send me a copy of my driver's license (again), recent 2 pay stubs, proof of any other income (if entered on your application), proof of auto insurance, a reference and their phone number, order agreement, and ASAP- the final price sheet (Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement for Teslas). They also provided the lien information/address to be entered on Tesla's website.
6. Since I'm planning to take delivery of my car next Monday and haven't heard from a delivery specialist yet, I called the local SC directly and apparently no one was assigned to me as their delivery specialist. So the person I spoke to on the phone ended up becoming my delivery specialist and they were very quick to finish up my paperwork.
7. Once the Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement was uploaded on Tesla's website, I just emailed that to Allegacy and they should be ovenighting the check to Tesla. They need the purchase agreement 2 business days before delivery date so they can get the check sent on time.

Hopefully that helps. Given that my other choice for financing was Bank of America at 3.19%, this little bit of extra work is saving me approx $1100 in interest over 5 years

2 makes totally more sense that 20. Whew, must be a typo. I could have pulled the last 20, but 20 for both of us... yawn. At that point I was just going to offer to pull W-2s. lol

I did apply for the loan first. That could be a bit of a challenge. Sounds like I'll have to bite the bullet for joining! But I'll use the member association you used, $15 per person is better than $25 per person ($20 association, $5 account each).

Thanks for the info!

It doesn't really matter if you apply for the loan first. I was told that they won't process your loan request until the membership enrollment is completed. I donated $10 to Center for Smart Financial Choices (the irony). And I'm sure you know this, but you don't have to go to any outside website to donate, everything is calculated at the end.

Ha! Yeah, that's probably the biggest reason I'm dragging my feet on this purchase. Financially, even though I can "afford" it, it's really dumb!

Did you pay any finance charge? They are charging me 2.5k on a 40k loan that isn’t the interest expense of the life of it

If I'm calculating it correctly, the monthly payment on a $40,000, 66 month, 2.09% loan should be $642.09. You'd pay $2,377.82 in total interest. I assume that anything you're paying above that is because of the amount you still owe on your trade in.

This is calculated directly from allegacy with a monthly payment of 667.84. This is for the life of the 40k loan total 44k payments, which doesn’t include the remaining balance of the car paid by cash. Something is still off about it

Is anyone paying origination or finance charge? And is it common?

Allegacy is charging me 2.5k on a 40k 2.09 loan that isn’t interest. Totals payment on the loan is 44.5k which includes 2k interest,2.5k finance charge, and $400 gap charge

It just shows "finance charge", no other column/section. Try plugging in your numbers on a car payment calculator and see if the monthly payments are the same
