Tesla low-ball trade-in offer

Just a quick note. I highly recommend those with access to one, to get a competitive trade-in value from CarMax. Tesla will match it. Originally Tesla valued my 2016 Ford F-150 Limited at 33.9k I took it to CarMax and valued it at 36k. Sent my appraisal to my SA and they matched it.

Not to fault Tesla here. Tesla can only go by some grainy photos, but CarMax can drive it around the lot and inspect it in person so they tend to work in your favor.

Mine was the opposite.
2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo. Good condition. Tesla offered $5500 sight unseen, CarMax offered $4500.
It was an easy painless trade-in with Tesla.

When I tried comparison shopping Tesla versus Carmax versus Carvana I was surprised that Carvana offered the most. Tesla was unwilling to match Carvana. I actually ended up selling myself for about 10k more on eBay, well beyond any tax credit from the trade.

Yup I understood. I was going to take my CarMax offer to Tesla if CarMax offered more, but they didn't.
