Tesla made 6000 Model 3's in June

Per this article, only 6000 Model 3's produced in June … so far. A long way from the 5000/ week and not real positive for those of us still waiting

Tesla Made 6,000 Model 3's in June
That memo was days, if not over a week old by the time the article was written. A more accurate title would be: "Tesla made 6000 Model 3s in the first part of June".

They had a production slowdown in may and they do not want to exceed the 200000 limit in June. Once July hits you’re going to see production ramp and the best quarter by far. Here comes profitability and the short burn.

Ouch, that would be really far off from Musk`s promises...again.

Eh, he's still probably fine with his 5k/week goal. He can distort it and have the line run at a pace of 5k/week (could be for 1 day or even just a few hours). Then he can claim Tesla hit a "5k/week" extrapolated production rate, and everyone will cheer. Despite not actually being able to crank out anything close 5k actual cars/ week.

They're trying very hard not to blow the 200k mark until July 1st, for the sake of all the fourth quarter delivery customers, so I don't think they're pushing production as hard as they can right now - instead, they're doing everything they can to prep for higher rates soon.

Haha....
They can build as many as they want - the 200,000 is deliveries (and that's US deliveries). They could build 5000 a week and store them, say, at the Gigafactory (Lots of room there). Then come July 1st - look out for the roads filled with car carriers out for deliveries.

Meh, same pattern so far as end of Q1/March. They managed >2K of their 2.5K target then (surprised me, frankly). The big question is whether or not they decide to sustain full production longer in July, and into August.

Exactly. And while we all know what is up, Elon just can't come out and publicly admit that he is helping US customers by gaming the US tax system. (Not good optics/politics, and the NYT would have a field day with it.)

btw: its US deliveries, not production that counts for the US cap. And any investor/short is well aware of this delivery practice, and likely ok with it, since enables more sales in December. The key will be whether Elon can get to a 5k run rate by end of next week.

#1. Business insider is the original source. They are full of false and misleading stories on Tesla
#2. There are still 10 days left in June. Lets assume they got this "company" information mid june. That still means 12K for June EOM even with a rate of 3k/wk (no improvement). Real number probably 15-18K
#3 I am so sick of these lousy sites creating click bait non-stories.

While this is true, it'd create new problems with storing them all, charging them all (remember vampire drain,) damage while in storage, and so forth.

Maybe more importantly, leaving some slack and shutdown times now means that can take actions to improve the line for later.

Send a note to the advert resulting from the click. State that you will not do business due to their advertising tactics.

Yeah, one note means nothing - but millions make them rethink the strategy.

Never understood an advertiser trying to get attention by pissing someone off.

So much this. Besides tuning the basics of the production they obviously put in the effort to integrate the D variant capability to the line, and now they've got their undoubtably grotesque gross margin Performance variant (and white interior option) coming off the line in limited numbers. Lots of saw sharpening going on in place of units coming off the end of the line.

"No such thing as bad press, just so long as they spell my name right."
