I was at the mall yesterday and ran across this: I talked to the sales guy and he said Tesla is testing the market with this mini store. I hope they do well. I want a Tesla store up here.
How does this qualify as a store? Seems like it's just an outdoor exhibit where folks can look and ask questions. I don't think the glass-front store behind the car is part of it.
Cool idea. I think it's great. You could probably put in five of these for the cost of a real store - spreads the message wider and faster.
The whole "store" can fit in the trunk of the car! Flooring, stand up sign, table and chairs... and the Rep can drive it to the next location! Brilliant.
Mobile Container Stores - a "secret weapon" for anti-Tesla states? When regulation is the mother of invention | TeslaMondo
Tesla time = mini store. Most current owners have the experience to do this job, and would be great at it...we've all done Tesla talks in parking lots, just without the props.
Very interesting, and innovative. Though to get people to visit this "mobile store", Tesla is going to have to engage in some traditional advertising so that people know it's there. It remains to be seen if Tesla will take it to states where they are legally proscribed from selling. I certainly hope they do.
Wonder if tesla's recent hire of the F1 guy has anything to do with the trailers. F1 has a lot of experience with trailers for race weekends. Tesla hires Red Bull Racing's former chief mechanic
No they won't. They'll get all the *advertising* they need from the media and other online sources (FB, Twitter, their own website/blog etc...) They can also simply show up at various events that draw people. For instance, there will be several Memorial Weekend events that will draw crowds. Tesla plants one of these at any of those events and the crowd is already guaranteed.
Or choose their locations wisely. The main parking lot of a busy mall, or a car show are great places for foot traffic.
Add a few flags/banners/balloons... or maybe some lit stadards and/or searchlights (think the "Bat Sign" with the Tesla T!)
This is distributed presence analogous to the Power wall, you could say. Soon you'll be able to shop for a car in the grocery store, at work, or on a cruise ship; and eventually in space (or in another time).
I think this is awesome, and I found a good place to set up camp for a while: The National Automobile Dealers Association 8400 Westpark Drive McLean, VA 22102 (map) 703.821.7000 or 800.252.6232

so what do they pull this with? I hope it's not a gas guzzler........that would be a perfect FUD argument and would counteract what Tesla is trying to do.....
