Rumor has it that they had to truck it back to Fremont to recharge it. It is supposed to return to SLO for the Sunday rush.

In the other thread on this thing, someone said that they got a starting charge rate of 120 kW. So, while it clearly uses the urban posts, it's not limited to the urban power rating. IIRC, the Teslarati article said that they thought it would be capable of charging 100 cars before needing to recharge the batteries. For 3 MWh of battery, that's only 30 kWh per car. That seems low for this particular usage case. For things like temporary placement in areas affected by widespread utility blackouts, that might be a more reasonable number if the goal is mostly just to get people out of the affected region and to the next open charger.Cool. So assuming 75kW (Urban Charger Rate); 3000kW / 75kW = 40. So it can charge 40 cars simultaneously. Any idea how many kWh it is? How many cars can it charge total?

Bruce.
While you're doing admin duties Bruce, do you mind editing the title to say "3MWh"?
This time they charged it off the local Superchargers.Rumor has it that they had to truck it back to Fremont to recharge it. It is supposed to return to SLO for the Sunday rush.
If true that’s so dumb, might as well have a diesel powered generator charging the batteries instead of trucking it back and forthRumor has it that they had to truck it back to Fremont to recharge it. It is supposed to return to SLO for the Sunday rush.
That's not a Megapack. Significantly fewer batteries on this one than the Megapack one. That looks like a smaller, cobbled together set-up consisting of just a few Powerpack batteries, an inverter, and a mobile supercharger pallet. The Megapack version also had a bunch more charging posts on it.Apparently Tesla brought one of their Megapacks to the Thunderhill Raceway in Willows CA for some testing reported by Salomondrin on YT.

That’s an odd reasoning. Just because the appearance is different doesn’t mean the concept is as well. The Megapack is still charged at an existing Supercharger location to obtain the power it needs to then Supercharge other vehicles. I don’t if anyone actually saw under that white box on the trailer so I can’t say we know what’s under there for sure (unless I’m wrong). That's not a Megapack.
