Blog Tesla Model 3 Aces European Safety Test

An evaluation by the European New Car Assessment Program found the Tesla Model 3 to be one of the safest vehicles on the road.

Euro NCAP is an independent body that evaluates the safety of vehicles in Europe. The group issued a perfect 5-Star rating in all four safety categories: Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road Users, which tests a vehicle’s safety features for cyclists and pedestrians, and Safety Assist, which tests active safety capabilities.

“The Tesla Model 3 achieved one of the highest Safety Assist scores we have seen to date,” said Matthew Avery, director of research at Thatcham Research, which runs the only UK-certified Euro NCAP crash-test center. “Its Collision Avoidance Assist system is first class, with its Autonomous Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning systems showing high levels of performance … Tesla has made a virtue of safety in its marketing and it is great to see a car now living up to that promise.”

Best possible ratings for frontal offset, better than any Volvo.

Shame about the pole test, would have thought with the batteries, it would have performed a lot better.

There are a lot of 2019 cars on that list that do as well or better than model 3, in all but where the 3 outshines which is the "safety assist" controls.

Mazda, Toyota, and Mercedes top the other three categories of scoring. And model 3 is not always in the top 10 of these categories.

In summary, a lot emphasis and results in car safety is making its way to consumers. Making for heavier and more costly vehicles, but our lives are worth it, right?!
