I am currently in a fight with Tesla over Damage and Paint Quality Issues that were documented on the delivery declaration. I would like to know if there are others in the same situation as me? I have over 80 Pictures and I will post if others would like to see.

If I were you I would do a really good inspection with a bright light and inside and out of a building to get different lighting situations. I would start by looking for dirt in the paint ie. dirt nibs. Then look closely at all of the painted areas with a bright light. Then look at the bottoms of the door for issue shown in the pictures where there is no base coat ie. color applied. If you find these issues downright refuse the car as it will turn into a nightmare like I'm on 7+ months after delivery and I'm still fighting. If you want more pics please let me know and I will be glad to share more. I love the car but these issues are unacceptable.

Is that midnight silver metallic or black?

I'm pretty sure every darker color car is coming out of Fremont with at least the bottoms of the doors like that. I've show it to delivery and service, they believe it's normal for Tesla and not a problem.

The car is Black, Tesla may think this is ok but this is not the auto industry standard. I also have a paint depth gauge and those areas at the bottom of the doors are around 18-26 microns thick when industry standard would be around 100 microns.

Sure I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just saying, It appears that every car coming out of the paint shop is like that in at least some of those areas. Your car is from over seven months ago, I've seen it on cars built in December.

Anyone who hasn't seen it probably hasn't looked (please don't look now). I stopped looking :) It's just how some of these cars are.

I’m curious what other new cars you have personally inspected to this level and found to be almost perfect.

If you have 80 pics you should just return it and find another car that meets your expectations. I’m not sure what you would want them to do to make that right by you outside of a full paint job.

I'm not attacking you, I'm just trying to explain where I'm coming from. One of the pictures shows the rear passenger fender it has a tire in the picture you can see the golden e-coat/primer though the black paint along with the edges below of the window trim is the same. Tesla is making a very high tech car and should not let the paint department be an issue for them when they are exceeding in everything else ie. range, consumption and so on.

It’s best to request a different VIN if you show up for delivery and are not happy with the paint quality. Trying to fix paint defects after delivery is just asking for a lot of aggravation. Tesla generally won’t tell you exactly what they are willing to fix and how they plan on fixing it so you are never sure exactly what they are agreeing to when you sign the paperwork.

Ford, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, 2 of the ford vehicle are owned in the family. I have been to new dealers and done an inspection of these areas and none I have seen have these issues. Tesla can either Replace it, Repaint it to the industry standard.

I took it on their word to address the issues. If I didn't take it all they would have done was to pass it off to an unsuspecting buyer.

OP, I totally agree with you. But Tesla will most likely tell you to go pound sand. There's a line of people (fanboys, or uninformed, or people willing to accept substandard QC) behind you ready to take your place. No competition allows for this level of incompetence and arrogance.

They can say what they want but I'm not giving in, I will hold them accountable
