I think if you don’t earn enough, you won’t be able to take advantage of the full amount of $7500.
Agreed that the federal tax credit is only the amount of your federal tax liability upto $7,500. But please pardon me in advance if this is not ok to ask: are people buying cars this expensive with federal tax liability below $7,500 that they won't get the full tax credit? When someone says they won't get the federal tax credit, it just makes me suspicious as to their tax return and income disclosure especially with purchases of cars this expensive. Again please pardon me if I'm the only one confused by the OP assertion that he won't get the tax credit.
