Has anyone worked out if there is any correlation between assigned VIN and priority?
I queued at the Sydney store 3.5 years ago to make my reservation, I was about 10th in line. I ordered my P3- within 30mins of ordering opening and have never changed my order. I’m VIN488243, which seemingly isn’t in the first batch. I’ll be a little annoyed if I’m not in the first batch...
See UK forums on delivery expectations and realities...better join the annoyed queue too

I also have a P3- order and my VIN is 4892XX. I am an existing owner and a reservation holder as well. My theory is that our P3- are in this first batch as they are ‘Unicorns’ - unless P3- really is a software tweaked LR AWD. I just can’t see they would have built them after they stopped offering them, but who knows. Given that some Kiwis have lost their VIN suggests maybe we don’t have our final VINs yet?

No early reservation here, ordered P3- on June 4, Brisbane delivery/pickup. I got 488234.

If the VIN numbers correlate to delivery dates it doesn't look like long-term reservation holders get much (if anything) for their trouble. :(

Your best hope is it a temporary vin and changes. It is hidden for a reason and Uk saw change multiple times. Nz has changed/disappeared hidden vins once. I would love to know how many employee and existing owners there are ahead of you.

We don’t know the factory production build mix at all on this ship except assuming Ps are first, like other countries, and since no Aussie SR+ orders seem to have hidden vins.

Cap Cap's next stop is in Melbourne, so what do we all think? Will it off load all of the Tesla's and road freight to other states, or keep the Victorian/SA allocation on the ship for processing in Melbourne?
Qld and nsw cars are offloaded in sydney. Vic, sa, nt, wa, and tas cars are offloaded in melb. Its been that way for a number of years for tesla.

I'm an existing owner, day 1 reservation holder and ordered a P3D- and haven't changed my order either, Vin is 4882xx. I'll be more than peeved if I'm not in the first batch.

I was however given a test drive on a private track a couple of weeks ago, which has made things worse and not better. It's also made it very hard to drive at the speed limit on the roads.

Yes, but did you actually pay a deposit? :)

It’s very tempting to try that strategy, but it may be an unsuccessful one, and could lead to all sorts of drama getting the deposit back or transferred to another order. Client-side manipulation of an online ordering page is probably a ‘get-out-of-jail free card’ for any vendor.

Taking the matter in to your own hands as in tin of white paint!

That is interesting HPSOV, since I have also ordered the P3- and even though I was 9 positions ahead of you, my VIN is a bit higher than yours.

I might have placed the order a bit later than you though (took a day to think about final configuration).

Having waited 3.5 years, I should not be too fussed about when exactly the Model 3 arrives, though on 1 September, my father in-law is arriving from overseas for a short visit.

If our Model 3 does not arrive in time for his visit, Elon [and I] will be in my wife's black book, with little - if any - hope for redemption!

Nz Facebook says a Tesla staff member in Auckland showroom said cars not in NZ. Find this extremely hard to believe given the all the information we have from numerous different sources and exact opposite said during the week from Auckland. It wouldn’t be the first time a showroom employee has advised something ill-advised, and uncorroborated.

The poor communication from Tesla is not helping matters. We will see people saying the same thing here as they wait. And speculate. Especially Facebook, where it isn’t generally quite as detailed analysis as here.

If the comment from this forum (sorry, forgot who), of every ship having 500 in total cars is true, it is going to be a giant wave coming. Next ship to Auckland arrives 19th August. I have no information on Kota Ekspres.

I would be surprised if the cars are in NZ, if they were then we would have multiple people being issued invoices and at least having spoken to a delivery specialist. A couple of weeks ago the Tesla showroom rep in AKL told me that the first big batch would arrive towards the end of August and another in early September. She said the earliest expected window for South Island deliveries , which will be amongst the first, would be mid September after 10 days of transit down the country. The Capricorn to me just seems to be too early, I mean what evidence does anyone have that it had any cars on it. I know in the UK the initial delivery shipment only had circa 100 cars out of thousands of orders.

On balance, the available evidence suggests the AWD is nerfed. Haven’t heard of someone doing a tear down of both models to test Tesla’s claims
I thought some of the evidence in favour of "nerfing" came from people looking at parts lists of the respective models and not seeing any differences.
I could image Tesla simply making a "maintenance" provision for P models for potential slightly higher warranty claims due to over stressing some part, hence the price difference.

Hmm, seems there's no clear answer on what the differences are between P- and LRAWD. Glad I went for the P+ :)

i already gave a clear answer before. The P- has the 3.4s acceleration unlocked, the AWD has just the 4.5s acceleration.
The P+ is a slightly inferior and more expensive version of the P- as you get the performance wheels which reduce your range but give you better braking (useless in Australia)
