Tesla Model 3 in Australia

So I finally got my car today. And Tesla didn't disappoint with the Drama.

i was due for delivery this afternoon. When the appointment was made (after the third reschedule), it was for 2pm today. Tesla website eventually after changing a couple of times settled on 5pm.

At about 2:45pm I received the email from Tesla along the lines of "By responding ‘yes’ to this email, you agree that you have taken delivery of your Model 3 5YJ3F7EA6KF443xxx on or before 23/09/2019. I immediately rang the number as I thought I wasn't supposed to get this email till I got the car, and told them I hadn't received my car yet, and hadn't been called by the delivery driver. They said they were sure it would be fine.

I received a call from the same delivery specialist about an hour later stating the delivery company had made a mistake. They'd forgot to put my car on the truck, so they wouldn't be able to deliver it today. They had a solution if I was interested, I could pick it up from the processing centre. As I'd already done recon at Autonexus in Canning Vale, and it was <30 minutes from my home, I said hell yes.

By the time i sorted things out with the family, it was 4:45 when i arrived. One nice gent had stayed back to get me the car. Handing over cars wasn't his job, so he didn't know much about it. But gave me the keys and offered to help in any way he could. (I also was given the contact of one of the service guys in Perth who called me to make sure everything was OK when I didn't ring him. He WAS very helpful!

Bad things that stood out:
- opened the drivers side door and there was dirty footprints all inside and on the door sill. As this is an SR+ there's no floor mats. Gent was very embarrassed and apologetic and cleaned it up straight away. Sounded like he was going to kick some butts tomorrow.
- Car had been outside all day in a somewhat dusty area and was pretty dirty
- Pretty bad scuff to the paint on rear of the right rear wheel arch.
- Its rather overwhelming with all the options and NO handover. I know my experience wasn't typical for Perth, but I don't think it'd be any different
- aliexpress mats, as someone else discussed, don't fit that well in the front. They'll do for now until Tesla get genuine ones in stock.

Good things
- Car is amazing. I don't know what else to say.

Also, received the car about an hour before we hit 500 pages (for anyone who cares).

TL;DR
Delivery all messed up. Got the car anyway by picking up to delivery centre. Car was dirty and some minor damage. Tesla need to sort their *sugar* out. And the car is so much fun I just don't care :)

So, with as many M3's as "double the total sales of Tesla EVs since the Model S was first delivered here [Australia] in late 2014." The stunning Model 3 delivery numbers that will rock Australia's car industry | The Driven

Why is it taking soooo loooong for someone to drive their M3 East or West across Australia. Your M3's have awesome range so hurry up already.

Nothing like being the first of a particular Tesla model to cross this great continent. Ask me how I know ;)

It’s pathetic how Tesla is treating Perth with delivery experiences like this, we paid delivery fee like everyone else, but get no delivery specialist or shiny shop to pick up the second most expensive purchase in our lives from.
Instead a dirt filled yard and a person with no knowledge is our reward.
Surely Tesla could have put all the cars in an empty warehouse and arranged pickup appointments from location with a delivery specialist there for a 3 to 4 week period when bulk of deliveries will take place.
But as they shown by only having only 1 supercharger station in an area that makes one third of Australia they don’t care about WA

You could always move to Tassie... :)
No Tesla store,
No Superchargers,
No Model 3 deliveries at all yet (about 4 weeks to go still!)

I am the retired CEO of Maxwell Technologies of San Diego, CA...Living the dream in Oz

OMG LOL.... welcome to Australia mate!!! and now that you’ve admitted that you can expect all future battery and charging best practice related questions in this forum to be pointed directly at you

And as a follow up, when will u be doing a round Australia road trip in your tesla(s) ??? Ooooh you’ve gotta do it in the roadster... I think Simon Hackett (of Redflow) has ordered one too. The pair of you would be a sight to behold doing a lap of Aus in Roadsters!! And both of u heads of battery companies... you can argue over chemistries the whole way round hahahaha...

So, struggling with the USB phone charger cable and the plastic fitting (yes yes I know there is wireless charging now but I still have my 7+) and figured it should fit better. So one YouTube video later and I realise that premium interiors (elsewhere at least) included the cables (which have the right angle etc, listed in -online store- brochure https://www.tesla.com/sites/default...U/M3_Accessories_Digital_Brochure_AU_0906.pdf ).
I went and double-checked the dark depths of the middle console and alas no cables.

So, the question... did anyone with premium interior get these cables included with their M3?

I finally managed to get an invoice after I sent an email asking for it (7 days since call).

Now how about registration, do I need to beg for that too?

After getting the call, the email from the delivery person only included the invoice, not the rego document. I sent several emails asking for the missing document, but didn't get a reply. Eventually I gave up on email and just called them (on the sales number). Took a few tries, but I got through to a helpful person who immediately emailed the rego document to me.

Well that appears to be a rather quick response. After I got the call for delivery appointment, it took Tesla 17 days to get the initial invoice and apparently that needs to be amended and so far have not got the amended invoice yet, and my delivery is supposed to be in 6 days.

According to the VIN spreadsheet tracker, 25 cars out of 245 have been delivered in Australia so far.
If the spreadsheet is a representative sample of the overall delivery progress, Tesla is only 10% into the process.

If you have taken delivery and not updated the spreadsheet tracker, please do so!
