I got a message from HansShow that product has been delayed. According to them the upcoming Chinese Holiday and parts delay they are unable to meet the timeline they put out back in Dec to have products delivered in Mid January.
im tempted but -- with a car like the Tesla I do not want to be playing with electrical.. The service center will flip when they see these - undoubtedly you will nee dto remove it before going in (my belief)... doesn't provide you with any additional info over the center stack. Cant interact with it through the steering wheel (difficult) -- held hostage by a Chinese company - where the unit may break at any time given a software update... Looks cool - yes but even then -- the Tesla in its minimalistic form is beautiful. This is from a guy who also has. wrangler with every trick in the books. Just my 2 cents.
I do like the idea of the display. Showing things that are on the main display but hidden makes sense to me. Energy display, tire pressure, trip meters, but also would be nice if it had things that are NOT on the Tesla display like batt temp, batt balance, charge rate over time, etc. Would be nice to have a display like this that was hackable, or programmable to display what you want. This display meets Scan My Tesla
I also received an email from Hansshow like others, they apparently have a vendor who has discontinued a part for the device. That is not good.
In the meantime I received a new PCB for the Hansshow HUD, and it's working again. I do hope that they added the capability to update the firmware on this new board by the customer (via USB).
From someone that purchased the latest version 2.0, there is a option to upgrade the software over the air. I asked him to come in here and talk about his experience.
@mrbofus This is the vendor in China : Model 3, Y Center Console Dashboard Touch Screen And it is NOT a HUD, that is my mistake, they call it a Display
Seems like Tesla could develop a similar solution backed by Tesla that would be a simple way to offer a retrofit instrument cluster and CarPlay/Android Auto for the 3/Y. Think that is in the cards at all?
@flyingcasual never say never, but Tesla appear uninterested in CarPlay/Android Auto at the moment. I would call this possibility "highly unlikely", but you never know.
I don't have a model 3 or Y, but I did find these two similar products in 2 mintues of poking around, if anyone is interested.... 581.4US $ 49% OFF|Circular Instrument Panel For Tesla Model 3 Dashboard HUD Heads Up Display Gauge Cluster Performance Digital LCD Best OEM Style|Gauge Sets & Dash Panels| - AliExpress Tesla Model 3 Instrument Panel Dashboard Display Provider | Autosonus
I'm a bit skeptical about this Q&A. The Hanshow HUD I have, now again is no longer working after another Tesla software update. Previously they sent me a new PCB that fixed it for an older software version update. Q- Are there any problems with this display when tesla updates the firmware? A- No problems at all. BTW: that product looks almost exactly like the Hanshow display...
