Wanted to ask this here first before going to an SC...

How much would it cost for a SC to get a car painted in a different color? I'm looking at CPOs and wondering if it's worth it to wait for the color I want with all the options I want, or if a car exists with all the options minus the paint job, to get that and get it painted how it want it.

Same goes for aftermarket painting, but would want the Tesla colors...

Oh my god. Don't. Just wait for a car in the color you want. The paint job will never be as good as if done at the factory and they will never be able to get to all the places with the factory paint and also realize they will have to take the car apart and put it back together to do a proper paint job.

After that is done, the resale value of your car will be decimated. Few buyers will touch a car that has been completely repainted a different color.

Also this would have to be done at a body shop as SCs do not do painting or body work.

IMHO this is a really bad idea. Don't waste your money on this. If you do decide to go this route, make sure they know what they are doing and a proper overall paint job will be quite costly.

I do have a compromise option for you. Just have the car "wrapped" in a different color. This way you can remove the wrapping if you ever decide to sell the car and you won;t have to deal with the potential mess of a full paint job.

This would be my recommendation as well. Get wrapped for a few thousand and have the option of removing it down the road.

I've seen cars that were repainted a different color. Even if they did a good job (no orange peel, etc), there's always sections in the old color that looks weird.

Modern day wraps look very, very good. I've been fooled until I've checked up close.

(1) Pretty good price imo.
(2) It's listed as NOT having autopilot both on ev-cpo and on the cached tm webpage. So is it that it had the hardware but just not turned on??

That car was one of the magical unicorns that showed up with it but it was not activated. Tesla used the car in San Fran as a training car for it's employees for a few months and activated it.
