I called my local store at San Diego asking for more info on CPO cars that are hidden/not yet listed as mentioned by many on this forum. The owner advisor just plain said there is nothing like that. The only list of the cars they have access to is the CPO website.
I wonder how others have managed to get that info from them. Are there any SoCal stores that anybody has a contact at that I could reach out to.

That person is so wrong, there are tons of cars for sale that are not listed on Tesla's site.....why do you think so many are added daily?

He can set up delivery in San Diego, not a problem there.

As others have said, there is absolutely a different system where they can see more. That system does include the website CPOs as well, and it's only marginally better as it has some level of sort/filtering (although nowhere near as good as ev-CPO). I was just in this past weekend and found what would have been a perfect P85+ listed although after the specialist reached out he discovered it had been in an accident then repaired. I've asked them to keep a lookout for my criteria but I may stop in every few weekends to check myself anyway.

From my experience there are a number of unlisted cars, BUT many of them are listed internally as USED. Not CPO. Keep this in mind, many of the unlisted cars will most likely sell uncertified. In other cases, they may still get certified, but they may have stories that go along width them. There were a number of such cars that I saw with great prices, but then found out the reason why.

Agree I have the feeling that this might be the case, and they'd rather only put the best on the public .com site. Although the one I was inquiring about was listed as certified. A bit surprised considering the accident / damage repair.
 
Can someone help me understand the CPO warranty?

- a new car has 8 years, unlimited miles on the drive train and battery
- a CPO has 4 years or 50k miles of limited warranty


So....If I buy a 1 year old CPO, I lose the difference between year 5 (1 year owned + 4 year CPO) and year 8 (new car warranty)?
 
New = 4year / 50k miles
CPO = 4year / 50k miles
Battery/drivetrain from new and transferable to CPO = unlimited miles and 8 years

The only caveat is that the 4 year new warranty can be extended another 4 years for a total of 8 years of coverage. However they will not let you extend the 4 year CPO warranty even if you buy a 2015 CPO car that is just a few months old.

So if you buy a CPO car you loose the ability to extend the warranty but if you buy the same car from a private party they can extend the warranty so the car has full 8 years of coverage. This could be an important matter for those who plan to keep the car for more than 4 years and afraid of the cost of out of warranty repairs.

- Battery / Drivetrain = 8 years unlimited milage (7 years, unlimited miles remain)
- Rest of car ("bumper to bumper" a lot of places call it) = 4 years, 50k miles from purchase date (so technically 5 years, 60k miles total on the vehicle), no option to extend

Yup you got it.
Also, the ESA (extended warranty) has a $4000 cost and a $200 deductible.
 
I believe originally not every model S had the 8/yr unlimited miles battery/drivetrain warranty though. Perhaps it was 8 year/100,000 miles? Do all CPO's then have the original warranty that was offered or are they converted to the 8/unlimited if they are sold CPO?

Originally they weren't unlimited miles. Then the 85/P85 got unlimited while the 60 stayed at 125k miles I believe. Early in the CPO program the 60s did NOT get upgraded to unlimited, but I thought I read reports that recently they do. I am unsure. If they do recently, it likely was around the time the 60s were dropped and the 70D introduced, since that one has unlimited miles like the 85/85D/P85D.
 
Just as an advance notice, once I iron out a few bu^H^Hfeatures, I should have European CPO and Inventory car listed on EV-CPO.com very soon! There's just some messiness with miles/kms and local currencies to hash out.
