Thanks Hank! I actually just noticed your avatar. Is that your true plate? I am not one to name cars but the Product Specialist noted that there is a name assigned to the car. I was going to go with Gigawatt. Restored a DeLorean and had it for 8 years. My avatar is the drive back from picking it up in 2003.

Yes, that is my actual license plate. And yes, I also owned a Delorean for 14 years (VIN 1619). Bought it in 2000, and sold it right before getting the Model S. (In fact, the day after I sold it, I joined TMC to start looking into getting a Model S!!). I needed the garage space, so the Delorean had to go first. ;) I've been to every Delorean Car Show since 2000. I got the 1.21GW license plate and even kept my flux capacitor and put it into the Model S and as an homage to my Delorean:

Having owned both cars, there are A LOT of similarities. Although with the Model S, I don't get a lot of "I heard there's cocaine packed in the seats, is that true?" questions. At least not yet, anyway. :)

I see the total number of cars constantly dropping on ev-CPO.com at the rate of about 1-2/hr. Is it mainly because people are reserving them or is Tesla constantly pulling some of the list as well.
I would assume reserving. My car was immediately gone from Teslas site, and gone from Hanks site as soon as I refreshed a few minutes later. If you have Hanks history package you can see when it's probably Tesla removing as they seem to do a handful in bulk which the site tracks as the same removal time.

That's exactly it. I watch the constant reports, and yes, one or two (or more) get reserved every hour. When Tesla does it, it happens to take place in big batches.

Very nice! I had vin 10084 and have only been to DCS 2012 in Orlando (call me lazy).

One of several things I will not miss with the car. That or folks at car shows who want to bang on the car to see what stainless steel feels like (bang your sink) or think they are the first witty person to use (insert BTTF joke). Still part of the club down here and was just over a buddy's house the other day replacing and bleeding clutch lines so I still get my fill.

Hank, thank you so much! (first post here but been following and learning from everyone, thanks all for the guidance) I subscribed about 2 months or so ago and have pretty much lived and refreshed ev-cpo so many times i can't count. Congrats to all new owners. I have had an interesting experience for sure. I pulled the trigger on one mid December and after about 2 weeks learned it had damage and had to cancel the deal, however my DS found me another one very similar same day. last week my page finally switched to production complete and it is on the way to me arriving at my local shop Monday or Tuesday. Hoping by next weekend I take delivery. Can't wait! Such an unusual experience of buying a car with being so used to instant gratification.

Mid-2013, Parkig Sensors were a separate option. Sept. 2014 (introduction of AutoPilot), the Tech Package activated AutoPilot, but even cars without the tech package have the sensors. I do not know if the parking sensors software is active for these cars. Sometime in 2015 the tech package was disbanded and parking sensors definitely come on all cars.

Is it safe to assume that any CPO with an ID# greater than ~ 51000 (Sept 2014) will have the Autopilot hardware installed? So the AP software should be able to be activated/installed by Tesla after sending them $3000 'activation/enable' fee?

Since it's a Inventory car, it still has the State and Federal rebates and is actually $84K ... not bad for a loaded D!

Except for about $10K more than this 70D you can actually buy a P85D :)

Or you can buy an 85D with about 10K worth of options for about the same cost for a car with greater range along with substantially better performance. And it is brand new with just the options you want... That used 70D for $94K makes zero sense.

Anyone have a definitive answer on the CPO listings that have two dash types noted? For example, a blue S85 in Chicago with both Obeche Gloss and Piano listed. Could this mean the existing Obeche dash is damaged and will be replaced if the new owner chooses it to be with either or? If this was the case then why not any style dash? I cannot see there being much price difference between the matte, gloss, piano except maybe the carbon truly costs a few bucks more in materials.

I am seriously considering a used tesla and have some questions. First post here and I didn't read all 300 pages so I apologize if they have already been answered.

1) What does the "refurbishing" that CPO cars get actually consist of?
2) Has anyone been tracking the total inventory of CPO over time? Right now it is at 521. What was it a week or two ago? A month ago?
3) are most people buying the cars without seeing them, or traveling to its location and checking it out?

I have been communicating with my regional CPO specialist and she told me today that the $1000 deposit on a CPO can be transferred toward a new tesla if you don't buy a CPO.

Hi All. Been following the forum for a while. Subscribed to the EV consolidator, finally ready to take the plunge. After reviewing historical sale prices, I have observed sale price as follows.
S60 around low $50's
S85 around mid to high $50's
P85 around low to mid $60's

these are fairly equipped Model S

Now my question is;

A base Model X is about $75 after tax rebates . Base includes AWD,Tech package, Pano roof/windshield, and "cyclone" like 20" rims. As I have a Model X reservation ready to configure, is it worth getting a 2-3 year used car at a discount of $15-20 OR just order my Model X and wait for about a year for gratification.
I do realize that one is a sedan and the other SUV, but technology and production quality have improved oved time so the expectation is that the Model X will be great. I am a conservative driver not much into performance, but love technology and really like the torque in a Tesla. Safety is also a consideration.

First post but toiling with this question for a long time.

I inspected mine today at Dallas SC. There were a few things on the nose cone and bumper that I was told will be replaced. Dark blue hides all those blemishes. Interestingly the work was supposed to have been done in PaloAlto from where it was shipped but they passed it to Dallas SC because they are busy.

Dallas SC looked very busy what with two X deliveries when I was there. They have done 6 X deliveries so far.

Had the same thing happen to me. The car was in Florida was was shipped to ny without all of the work complete. My guess is one or both of two things. First Florida was too busy to complete the work. Second there was a truck with open space so to minimize trucking costs the car was shipped. Otherwise tesla would have to order another transport.

its a bit of risk. If the car can't pass CPO standards I could reject it and tesla would have to eat the shipping costs. I am assuming that they had some comfort level before shipping the car out.

Live been tracking cpo since the site went live. I saw 200-300 for a while but ever since early December the numbers Have increased to 400-500. Must be all the trade ins from the year end deliveries. Also from all the D deliveries. Not many Xs were delivered so I expect more trade ins once the xs ship in quantity.

I had pictures of of the car but did not see in person. There is an element of risk. Look up cyclones posts.

Perfect car for you to get rid of that Leaf
Not ready to pull the trigger and I'd really prefer not to have a black car, although I suppose I'd take one if the price was low enough. I'm hoping that prices will trend down in the next few months. An 85 would make long trips easier though (I was looking for a 60 in the low $40s with a VIN that wasn't too low).

Found a CPO S60 2013 with 16000 miles, leather, pano, supercharger, Rear facing seats, and Tech for $45000, so decided to take the plunge and wait for a few years till the Model X get a little refined and all the kinks worked out.

Do you all think thats a good decision ?
What do you think about the price ?
