I have experimented with range alot going to and from DC. Range is so dependent on so many factors I cant name them all.
Outside temp is most dependent, speed, AC, lights, to name a few. I've managed to increase my range by turning everything off, including running lights., staying at 65 mph. U can milk 25 more miles easy. One time I milked 30 out of it. One time I used double miles by driving 85 for hours. Also, how much weight u add. 1 person, no luggage. Vs 4 people with bags.
What's fun is to draft on a big rig. Get right on his back, u hardly have to push on the pedal. It's amazing to watch the meter.
I bet u can beat 402 easy if you want to. EPA has a test standard. Not sure what it is.

I lived in Merced for 6 yrs. U can go from .Bakersfield to Sacramento on 99 in nice cool weather and beat it easy. Yes driving slower than 75 is hard, but cruise control makes it easier. I loved seeing all the food being grown along 99, it was really cool for an East Coast guy to see your area.
