Tesla Model S Instrument Cluster Crash

I was driving my loan Model S while my Model X is at the service centre getting repairs done. Its been almost 2 months...
While driving about 2 weeks ago the instrument cluster completely died and was completely blank until it reset itself.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Let me guess that the loaner is pre-2017. Sounds like the well known problem of MCU1 failure.

Then it's clearly something else; haven't seen any reports of MCU2 failures.

Just to be sure: Does this loaner have the Arcade and Netflix, etc.?

Yes, it has those. I checked on the specs and it comes up as Intel Atom.
Also, the main MCU screen stayed on working. It was just the IC

Ah, sorry. Didn't catch that it was the IC rather than main display. IC failures are not reported often, but sounds like your service loaner needs service.

It's been a while since my last post, but I pickup up my Model X from the service centre and on the drive back the instrument cluster turned off.

Then a couple of days later this happened:

Tesla have said it looks like it might be a known firmware issue

this is happening to my 2017 MX regularly now and Tesla says it is a firmware issue. Sounds crazy that such a major safety issue has not had a fix issued yet!

This is happening to my 2014 MS. IC is frozen when I get in the car like the 2nd video 2 posts above, or it freezes while I'm driving. Have to reboot it each time. Happening about 2-3 times per week now. Very annoying. Assume I have to take it in for a firmware update?

Update - service centre replaced my instrument cluster which didn't help. However, the V11 software update seems to have completely eradicated the issue!
